@slief, thanks for your videos. You convinced me to also replace my Kessils w/2 LX7206's. I wanted more coverage and I loved the idea of bringing out more color in the corals - who wouldnt?! I dont recall where, but I read that a couple guys were able to mount their new Mitras using the Vervve mounts so I ordered a pair of them from @Premiumaq. I dont think the native mounts will work on my stand without a seriously painful install due to the limited space and the plumbing that's in the back of the stand. Plus they are a lot cheaper. I hope they fit!!

One thing I do feel GHL lags behind Ecotech or Aí is mounting options. The flex mount improved things a bit but if you have a rimless peninsula tank like I do there is no option to mount them together in a sliding bar (as far as I am aware) like Ecotech. And this alone makes me look elsewhere, given I would need at least 3 (probably 4 as a hate led shadowing and would like to mount them perpendicular) and that would imply 8 wires hanging from the ceiling and 4 power cords with no cable management option.

It is a shame as 1) I am in Europe so GHL is close by for support, 2) on paper they would be my preferred lights and 3) together are cheaper and 4) I have a Profilux 4

The mitras have a very big spread, so shadowing is not that much of an issue. It all depends on the height that you run them from the surface of the water. This also dictates how much PAR you will be getting in the tank at different levels. You can always add another one if needed.

Thanks! I understand they have a wide coverage for LEDs. In theory, for my 24inch wide tank I could place them parallel to the length of the tank... in theory. In practice I hate that whenever fish swim up to the glass you always get to see only the shadowed side, as the led light is shining from the other side.

To mitigate that I would place the lights perpendicular to the tank, so I can get front to back coverage similar to what I currently get from my Giesemann Matrixx ii 8x80 dimmable T5 unit.

That would also mean that for my 72inch long tank I would probably need 4 Mitras placed perpendicular to the length of the tank.

I am not concerned about peak par, but rather having a wide and homogenous coverage across the tank.

One thing I am curious about and would love some feedback on is mounting two of the LX7 fixtures over a 48x24x20 tank. Mounting ways I've seen over a 4' tank going left to right are = = and II II and was curious which is considered best? the II II way seems to be the cleanest with being able to route the power cord towards the back of the tank and since the lights cover 36x24 there doesn't seem to be a "wrong way"?

@mtraylor, I have a standard 90g (48 x 18 x 24). I have a mixed reef w/a few SPS and some LPS. There are a few fish as well. The tank has been up for a little over 2 years but my SPS's dont grow very much. The LPS's and zoos do well.

Good looking tank! Looks like the left light could move a little to the left though and give you less shadowing on that left side.

As for the light orientation question, I believe the Vervve mounts can accommodate both mounting options w/the Mitras - assuming they fit correctly. My mounts came in today but the lights wont be shipped till monday. GHL is doing firmware upgrades on the fixtures to the latest and will then send them out then. So I can confirm once I receive them if no one else has by that time.

I have heard about this update to the flex mount, and the II mounting option does give the cleanest with hiding the cord in the back and allowing easy access to the controls, but = makes most sense logically. I'm only trying to light a 48x24x20 tank so I imagine either way works.

I thought with the Vervve mount you still needed to fashion a bracket to attach the Mitras itself to the vesa-looking mount on the Verrve arm?

Given you have 24" depth, either way works. I have a single unit on a 24 x 20 x 20 and given the narrower depth + overflow box, it's a bit of a waste. But I have plenty of light with ||. I noticed that some of my highest par levels are at the front glass because of the light reflected back in. The front glass is measurable higher PAR than the middle.

It all depends on how much PAR you want. At 12", I hit ~385 just under the surface. Mostly ~200 in middle, and ~145 on bottom. Putting the seneye against the glass was another 40 PAR with reflections.

I need to retest, but I could tell at ||, I will probably run it at ~70% so I have 100 PAR on bottom. So I'm fine and have spare power. The spread was such that it covered my whole tank, the back corners are a little too dark and the front glass is a little too hot, == would probably improve that.

@Whipples I have the exact same dimensions with Mitras mounted ||. Great coverage and yes, b/c of the way the cables come out, you really should mount them that way.

For others wanting to mount multiple, you could always get some 80/20 and drill, shouldn't be too hard. I'm not really a fan of only the two holes for the hanging kit so I may do that eventually anyway but I'm lazy.

Awesome thanks for that. My plan is to use 1" conduit which is overkill but should be big enough for me to drill a hole in to route the power cord without compromising structural integrity. I looked at 8020 and made a custom rack but it was pretty expensive, ~$160 for two arms to essentially do what the conduit will do for about ~$30 at a hardware store.
