I don't think it is a scam. There aren't too many people who have SPS that can say that their frag looks like the mother colony unless it is a Green slimer or other non-rainbow acros. There are too many variables to keep and maintain colorations such as tank conditions, lighting, so on and so forth. How can someone expect to maintain the same conditions when they continue to keep their hands in the tank, run a different lighting system, and constantly have issues going on with their tank. Even you have the complete same equipment setup down to the bulb configuration, there will still be variations such as his bulb configuration is specific to his aquascape.
Just my two cents but I would like to see someone one with it in their tank in the same coloration and not the original owners photos.
This acro needs heavy blue lighting and will never look like the original picture under a 14k bulb. Their may be owners of the wd that have extreme blue lighting to achieve the colors eventually.Gonzo pretends to be this all mighty sps guy but yet he doesnt realize that very rarely do very small frags look anything like the colonies color wise. Most acros dont even start to show great color until it has hit full stride and has grown quite a bit. I still have yet to see a piece even remotely close to the size of biggars. Which is one reason why I feel that nobody has gotten colors. Most pieces out there have been in possession of their owner for less than a year and unfortunately have been cut prematurely to sell a frag or 2 to recoup their initial cost.
I just mentioned gonzo because he's the main one always crying about this piece. But this is also for anyone who also feels the same as him. Give this piece time with a person who wont cut a frag as soon as a little branch pops up. keep this piece in the conditions that biggar has it and leave it grow for a year and see what happens. I've seen a few pics on social media that are def on the right track.
Diesel had it a year and still looks like a run of the mill mariculture Tenius. Nothing at you Diesel. just sayin
Diesel if I were a team owner and spent top dollar for a peak player at the top of the game I would expect results and so do the fans of the game.
In Baseball we have much more data to make a educated decision of the value of a player, and we can not use light or camera angles to hype up a players stats.
It would be great if those that have the coral could give us their opinions and show their results. Especially respected members of the forum like yourself.
I do not understand why most skirt around the issue and have to be so politically correct. Is this coral Hype or Legend?
I have a friend who bought one of the original frags for $800 and his piece is growing well, but he gets the same response "That's it???" When people see it. It is past the new frag stage and has encrusted and growing and even when just the blues are on it is not represented as the photo that sold the coral.
If all those that have it could post pictures and give a few stats then I would better understand the baseball analogy.
Hype or Legend, pictures please?
I will try to go through R2R and tag people who have their frags to see what they look like now.I'm not afraid for critics as that has his point but what I don't understand is where you going with all this? What is your point at the end?
I had corals from you too and they never turned into for what the pic showed but I'm not making a thread about it and rubbing it in over and over.
It's almost like "WD color matters" We all get by now that the color isn't there but there are still believers out there that think with time it will be there as for Mike B it took two years to get his colors. Yes he uses a lot of blue like we all do as what's the point for running your tank just a daylight?

Nothing like the pic from Mike B but it still is a WD.
Am I stuck on this coral......... not at all........... make me a offer!!
Pointless to continue on this thread. It's the same people that don't buy the expensive stuff, that comment in every thread that coral should be free. Its a scam ect. The reality is some people can afford to buy the pieces some people can't. The fun of it to me is to try to get them colored up a lot of the time. I've only seen 2-3 vendors ever that send pics, then the coral you get looks identical. Will it turn out the same as the OP pics, maybe? Maybe your such a good reefer you can get it to color up to the origional. I know that's what draws me in. But to say that every piece out there that doesn't look identical to the origional picture is a joke. I had sexys OP and I could never get it orange for some reason, then one day years down the line it started changing. That's the beauty in the hobby, one day you might come around corner to see a white colony, or something new. Its fun, stop taking it so serious. If you care about it being a rip off so much then don't buy it, enjoy the hobby!
Very true, although I do not get upset with people saying "its hype its hype". The truth is, if vendors on here had this tenuis they would STILL be selling it for $600 plus.
One thing I learned in every hobby is that you will get people who will always go cheap and never buy high end corals...but then complain that they are too expensive. I am happy this corals gets the "hype" and negative attention.
@Gonzo can you post up what your Yum Yum looks like under actinic? Still want that piece!!!!
