The Great WD SPS Debate - Battle ZONE!

Hopefully everyone doesn't kill me for this but......... after reading this thread and many others about the WD I'll hold onto my money.

Nothing new but c'mon you think that there ever will be a WD as the original colony that............ well never mind!
Points are made and discussion is going round and round and one day this thread will be dead thread as many other hyped up coral discussions.

The blue pics with glowing tenuis is misleading and not a true representation IMO, but this is not one of those hype corals. A red highlighted tenuis is a very real thing, and can be beautiful. The jaw dropper.... now there's a complete hype BS coral based on a photoshopped pic to begin with.

Yum yum looks more like a wd . Than the wd's that have been posted lol

Yup sure lol. No way yours looks more like a WD than my real WD.

Yes they both are Tenuis' but the coloration is different. Funny how you tell everyone their frag looks nothing like the real WD but yours, of course, does. lol

I know this is IYO but can you say that by stating this that the WD is also photo shopped?
Cause if you analyze the sentence even by not saying it I any many others can't make it out something else.

As for the price, I got it much cheaper than the $450-800 price tag. But can you fault someone for taking $600 for a frag when people are willing to paid it? Are you telling me if gonzo, WWC, JF have a piece that people will paid $600 for...they will turn down the money and sell it for $75?

Truth.

I think they would, they already do with $250+ Acro frag but I'm fine with as they all have been replicated in other reefers systems. I don't really care about the price what I care about is that if I pay top dollar for a stick it's because I want it to look like the original colony and same as others have got. You guys were sold on pictures of the original colony not on maybe this could be a cool coral if I can color it up. IME that is what wild colonies are for or the $20 brown SPS frag section at your LFS

There would be this same post for all these other vendors $$$$ stuff but their isn't because it ends ups looking just as beautiful as the sale pics.

I don't think it's photoshopped, I think it's a certain orange shade of photogel to pull those colors under blue light. Like I said, misleading, and not a true representation. All technicalities though, the end result is the same as photoshopping. Only reason why I am remotely supporting this coral is because I know what the colors of a rainbow tenuis can look like in person. Sadly, very few people will keep this color.

So you're assuming I saw the original mother colony shots?

No sir. I saw a frag and a mini-colony from my seller. My frag looks like his colony so I am happy with my purchase. And I saw the colony before I decided to get a frag off it. No pictures fooled me buddy.

I wasn't sold on anything. I made my decision and am happy with it.

No better way to boost your own sales by saying you have the same exact piece for cheaper, and better according to him

Yours looks like a op. Nothing close to the WD

Its funny how everyone in this thread that is calling scam because of blue pics never saying anything about these overhyped, overpriced, blue led driven anemones. But yet an acro gets everyone's panties in a bunch. Lol silly rabbits....

Yum yum is junk bro. Haven't you heard. No need to boost my sales. I do well enough. Point is my imported acro looks better and closer to the original pics than people posting the real WD lol

I have two frags, 1" and a .5" of the Reef Raft Orange Passion next to my WD. Totally different.

Of course mine looks nothing close to the WD. It has blue tips, yellow polps, greenish/orange base.

But yours MUST be a WD. Okay dude lol.

Post up the side by side bud

Hybrid. Post up your wd

Its your tank man if your happy that's all that matters. I was more of just talking about the WD in general from my point of view. Viewing it as when I buy frags of these sticks, I research mother colonies and how it looks in others peoples tanks because what sells me with names pieces is the original colony. For example I have a RR Asia Wolverine and Orange Passion and both are frags still just starting to sprout more nubs but I can easily tell they are what they were sold as and can see all the colors the colony pics show but mine are just not colonies yet but easily identifiable as they're respective names. I seen a whole bunch of pictures of how they turned out in others tank while researching and was confident if I buy this frag for $250+ I'll get the colors and as it ages it'll just be larger with the same colors as frag and as a colony. This weekend for the jfox live sale I'm gonna try my darnest to get a fox flame because I know I'll get a frag that will look like the fox flame, will more then likely be showing the right colors, and grow into a duplicate of mother. I believe this because many others have done it. I haven't seen any proof from any of the people who have frags or mini colonies of the WD post pictures that replicate the original mother colony so I can not buy into the hype. But if people were to post pictures and success of how they replicated the original then I'd be all in. Of course these pictures would have to represented without the grease. Just picture with honest white balance. I don't care if you photoshop corals but do it to how they look when you look through the glass of your aquarium in the middle of the day not with filters, extra blue lights, and all the other methods that enhance corals to what they are not.
