Standard filtration should be fine. Live rock, skimmer. I tried keeping one in a 20 with a HOB and I think it got stressed out. He jumped out where the HOB opening was.

Liveaquaria Diver's Den gets them often. They have wysiwyg pics so you know exactly what you're getting.

Blue Zoo is also a good source. Blue Zoo and Diver's Den are really the only two online retailers I would buy a Peacock from. Blue Zoo had a really nice 3" Peacock recently.

BTW. I would never order a "peacock" and expect it to be an O. scyllarus. Many retailers call any colored mantis shrimp a peacock. Make sure your are getting the species you want. My first mantis was from Liveaquaria and I ordered a O. scyllarus and they sent me a G. chiragra. Not knowing any better at the time I wasn't able to get a refund since I didn't know I had the wrong thing until past the 14 day guarantee time.

good to know! i have no clue where im going to gett one from I just want a very beautiful peacock mantis. one of my LFS gets them in all the time so probably from them

Mantis identification is really bad in general. A lot of people that haven't own one still consider them pests but the tides are changing!

I still laugh about my Smithii being listed as a "Small Peacock" at the LFS.

tank is almost finished cycling.... blue zooo supposedly had one but it sold..ebay has one but colors arent as bright..live aquaria is out too..

How about a Havenasis? Nice and colorful, a little smaller and can handle reef lights.

That's the same thing I ordered on LA a few years ago and got a G. chiragra. I don't think they can tell the difference. They sell the smaller G. chiragra as Clown Mantis and put the larger O. scyllarus on Diver's Den.
