I did the same thing in my mantis tank. All the stuff no one wants in a reef went into my mantis tank. Yours looks great and I like the majanos too. :)

Some species require specialized tanks and setups. Common smashers like N. wennerae are fairly hardy and do well in reef tank settings. There are some like O. scyllarus and G. chiragra that are prone to shell rot and need to stay out of bright reef lighting. Always best to decide which mantis you would like to keep and create a specific set up for it.

We have ours under reef lighting but they are only on for a few hrs to give some light to the corals. Its off all day until we arrive home from work around 5pm then on until around 8pm (whites and blues) we then leave the blues on another hr then off again. Corals have adjusted to this pattern and we get to at least feed our Peacock under lights to view her. Her burrow is well under the rockwork and she seems to be doing fine. :)

Skip the iodine. I can easily be overdosed and isn't known to prevent shell rot or provide any other benefit really.

Good luck with the future arrival!

sorry to hear M@!. why was she at the LFS?
They had ordered it for somebody that didn't pick it up. It was always priced at $100 and I think that probably kept it there for so long. I happened to stop in just after I had an creatureless tank and picked her up for $60.
