The wonderful thing about triggers
A triggers a wonderful thing
Their tails are made out of rubber
Their teeth are made out of...

Well, they are really freakin' SHARP!

My Niger tries to sample my fingers anytime I reach in the tank. I'm thinking about mounting a shark head on a stick and placing it where he can see it all the time. You know, as a warning.

He would probably destroy the shark head, hahaha. That really is what makes triggers great; you either love them or hate them. Triggers are very smart and aware, that's what makes them so destructive as a captive in a glass cage. I've read articles about triggers breaking into hamster balls to get food out, and other interesting feats of their deductive intelligence. My niger, about 10", would constantly fight with my jeweled eel, full grown 2' about the thickness of a man's wrist. The jeweled eel is a tough fang tooth eel, used to beat the crap out of the niger, the niger would always be scraped up with gashes and bruises. Didn't matter, he always went back for more. I think it was just something to do for him, there wasn't any purpose to it, he literally would go out of his way to get his butt whipped, hahaha.

I once thought that I could beat the odds and keep 4 triggers in a tank with coral... The triggers did great, the corals not so much. They are very smart and have puppy like personalities. Some puppies bite.

Such a trippy fish. Color and pattern. Too bad they area menace

Someone mentioned puppies, I have 8 of those "puppy dogs" in my reef tank. A Clown, Assasi, Blueline, Pinktail, Niger, Huma, Black Hawaiian, and an Undulated. Here's a vid at feeding time enjoy.
Easily the most entertaining video I've seen on the forum. I choked on my ham sandwich at the 3:20 mark.

Nice collection of Triggers. I had both a clown and a miniatus in the same tank and they constantly tussled over food. Your grouper is nice. I have to say i have never seen one as bright as the one I had, though. That was a loss.

Imagine your Wife/GF calling you at work to tell you all of those fish, every single one, died instantly. It happened to me. Rushed home to see the carnage, but also got to see how crystal clear she got the tank with tons of Windex.

And how are you keeping healthy corals with that many Triggers?

U know it’s bad when u get home
And chk the tank and u see that 14k look and u run 10k settings. All seriousness. Sry bro.

I always wanted to make a tank just for an Undulated Trigger and have it wreak havoc as it pleases.
With its colors- would be a neat concept

My wife was the camera man, she loves the puppies, she just has a fear of the Dragon eel coming out of the tank and having to pick it up and put it back in as she did with a Snowflake we had around 15 years ago numerous times, she's a trooper! Glad you enjoyed the vid and the commentary ;), feeding time is always entertaining.

The only one out of the 8 triggers that messes with corals is the Clown trigger. So I add a small frag, within 5 minutes he recognizes a new coral in the tank, he picks it up swims with it and drops it, I place it back and this repeats itself around 5 times in a 30 minute span then he leaves it alone. Other than that they all leave the corals alone.

That is a nice looking tank, but those triggers are small, and it is very unlikely those corals will fair well when they mature
