The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

Was he eating ok? He looks kind of thin.

Don't be too mad at the crab. I don't think he was the reason for the death. He was just being an opportunist like all crabs are. Sick/dying fish are just to easy to pass up.

Sorry for your loss, you have some beautiful wrasses.
Thanks. Never seen him eat, just came out the sand today after being added a few days ago. He was a bit thin.

Sorry to hear about your Potter's :(

I picked up a couple wrasses last night :

I have a question regarding my new Checkerboard Wrasse. :) So he has come out of the sand full time now, and I just fed the tank. However, he seems generally disinterested in the frozen mysis I am feeding. Is it normal for them to take a while to warm up to the food, or should I try something else? Any suggestions? Thank you very much. :)

When I get wrasse's I leave them in an acclimation box until they are feeding pretty regular. and try to get them on mysis, and pellets.

Give him a little time. Checkerboard wrasses generally aren't picky.

Well, I'm at day 9 with my 4 leopard wrasses and ( knock on wood) all seems fairly well.
I added 1-1/2 teaspoons of prazipro to the 29 yesterday morning.
I'm not seeing the flashing I did 2 days ago.
All are eating pretty good.
3 get up pretty early, about 8 am, and stay out of the sand until I turn the lights off at 7:30pm.
However there is the one that gets up a hour later than the others and is always missing at the 6pm feeding.
They recognize me as the giver of food, so I can get right up to the tank and they are right there. Not afraid at all.

I'm a little surprised that all 4 have survived. By now I would assume that any shipping shock would long be past.
With my luck with liveaquaria lately I ordered 4 with the hopes of 2 surviving. That may seem a little cynical. But lately I'm not have the best of luck with their fish.

Now I'm wondering if I want to add all 4 to my display tank to go along with the female I have there now.

Okay so I was able to get some pictures of my new little guy, though not great ones, lol. Please excuse the algae on the glass...I confess I leave some of it there for the copepods. [emoji15] I decided to get some frozen brine last night, and I think he may have eaten a little bit. It was a little hard to see because I was trying to stay away from the tank so he wouldn't get scared and go back into the tank. ;) so here he is! Cool, huh?

It almost looks like he has a little belly...do you guys see it? Or is it just my imagination? I think he has been eating some copepods in the tank...is that something they usually do? I really hope that is a belly...I want to make sure the little guy isn't starving. :)

Looks like a healthy wrasse to me. I've never known any wrasse to turn down a copepod. Nice looking wrasse redsea!

Thanks so much Paul for the reassurance! And I'm glad they enjoy copepods...I do have those in the tank and see him picking all the time, so that is piece of mind!

Thank you for the compliment as well! :D

Nope, the Potter's died the night after being added. Was able to get a DOA on him. The other larger one that came in was a DOA. Should be getting a free replacement in Friday. This was gonna be my last attempt, but I'll try the free one as well. Anyone dose prazi in there reef tank with I'll effects? I've got a little of everything but softies.
