Are you sure it isn’t a true puddingwife? I’d also love to see a photo of your wrasse!!
I was told by wrasse expert that it is a Halichoeres Cosmetus Adorned Wrasse. I know when I bought it was sold as and Adorned Wrasse and then the wrasse expert told me the latin name when I showed him the picture.
That’s a beautiful wrasse!! For sure a Here’s my Halichoeres wrasses, my jade I don’t think will be a juvenile female for much longer (Her green head has lightened). My once juvenile iridis looks to be a mature female so if I add another one eventually if the Jade has to go, I hope I can get a pair every so often.Halichoeres Cosmetus and Adorned Wrasse.
Actually, iridis is easy as any other wrasse to keep, it’s purely the poor shipping capability that makes them so “hard” to keep. I would say out of all of my fish, the easiest to keep alive has been the iridis and the clownfish, the rest have all been jumpy.
Again I am not a wrasse expert but I would just pick one from the Halichoeres family as they can be aggressive . I know my Adorned wrasse as beautiful as it is can be a total jerk when new fish are introduced . To the point I am now gun shy to add another fish haha .
Actually, my two Halichoeres get along just fine in my 4’x2’x2’ tank. Although yes there is the chase every few nights (Mainly the Jade). I’m not really an expert in keeping groups of fish that should work well together… more of the opposite when you see my tank stock haha.
This purple one is a beauty !I loved mine. I wish they didn't get so dark on their back over time in brightly lit tanks. Mine was prettier as a newly transitioned male than as a terminal....almost like the difference of H. biocellatus over time.

I’ve been wanting to change my jade to another iridis… would that work though? Or would it just fall to pieces with war and I’d be better off with the Jade?
Yeah every tank is different that is for sure . I think Rock Work has a big influence on fish behavior and the more crevices and caves you have or rocks to hide behind is better for your chances of fish getting along.

Yeah, my wrasse gang at the moment is rather peaceful but as the jade ages so does it’s aggression which is why I’m getting closer to pulling the trigger.

I agree with you on rockwork really matters and how minimal rocks don’t add to the “Natural” look of a tank.
There’s way too many, I keep losing the Indonesian lubbocki in there because of it. It’s fun when you have 1”-2” fish and so many caves, they can constantly get lost and hide from the big guys.
For sure. My setup is not the most visually appealing but I designed it for the fish . wanted to feel and look like something they might see in their natural environment lots of caves and crevices . Plus it works out for me I love seeing the tangs zooming in and out of all the different rock work not just swimming back and forth in open water that would depress me for them ....
