Sure! The DT is about 180 gallons. The current Choati is about 3 inches. I'm not positive it's female, but I think it is. I can post pictures later if that would help! So far there is zero aggression in the tank amongst any of the leopards. I'd like to keep it that way, but I'd also like another Choati

180G is a mansion for pairs but your best bet is getting a female. The current Choati is likely to be transitional and when you add a male it’ll more than likely end up as a fight to the death.

The only other leopard I’d worry about is your meleagris but I wouldn’t worry as much if you add a female. Males will likely compete with eachother and again risk a fight to the death.

What's the best way to identify male/female with Choati's?

+ 1 to what @i cant think said... don't get a male choati. There is always a risk when adding a male leopard in with another male leopard even if they're different species. Choati isn't the easiest leopard to sex some vendors incorrectly sex choati simply based on the size of the fish... large females sold as males, small males sold as females.

He’s incredibly fat, I don’t think I’ve seen any that are fatter (And I work in an LFS with 2 females that are fed 8 times a day).

A terminal male choati will have an orange stripe in the anal fin and a blue hue to the ear spot. The striping on the face will be more defined too. Females have irregular spots in the anal fin and a darker ear spot.

Right. So my question is, how do you sex them? Is it just the markings by their face that change? I could be completely wrong in what the potential new Choati even is. I’ve tried attaching a photo of it, but it won’t attach.

You got him as a juvenile in your trio, right? I’m curious if you knew he was a male and the others female when they were young, or if the difference became more clear over time?

It was obvious one was male after a month as one was growing bigger and faster. The other two stayed small for a while (and in fact she is still slow growing and isn’t as big as he is). The main thing I saw after time was the male gained bolder striping, and a slightly blue tint on his face. And now he has colours that are very similar to a Sixline but with obvious differences

I mean here’s the trio as juveniles and now the male

If your choati is female and not transitional she could still give him some grief bc choati has attitude they aren't the most peaceful leopard once they get past the juvenile stage, but they should work things out.
