The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

I have a few in the cyanopleura group together without major issue, but I have also seen them in other tanks behave very aggressively towards others within their complex. Acclimating properly helps, but is also quite dependant on the individual personality of the fish, and it's a bigger gamble within the same complex.

Question for you wrasse lovers, would an exquisite do ok in a 10g quarantine with a half inch yellow clown goby?

We actually have a cf. cyanopleura and another which I think has some solarensis blood in it and they are fine. Tank size? I added them in one or two at a time with acclimation boxes and it worked like a charm.

The tank is a 93 gallon. 36 x 30 x 20 old frag tank.

TJ/hunter: Any favorite wrasses? Or some that get overlooked that baffles ya'lls minds as to why?
I like C. rubriventralis, H. chrysus, richmondi, timorensis, argus and leucurus. They are all periodically available, some quite common, but don't seem to get 'the love' of some of their rarer brethren.

Question on female to male changes.

If i buy female fairy wrasses of multiple species yet to be determined and introduce them into the tank at the same time will they eventually turn to males? The only other wrasse in the tank will be my super male McCosker.

Assuming they are different species, over time yes. Even if they are the same species they still may all change male.

There are exceptions but statistically the answer is yes

Agreed...however I had a female Rhomboid for over 2 years before it finally changed, with multiple male Fairy species. I had a M. meleagris change in less than a month. Determined on a case by case basis in my experience.
