Beautiful flames! Is that a pink streaked wrasse hiding by the skunk cleaner shrimp?Just picked up a really nice pair of Hawaiian Flame Wrasses from Vivid here in LA. Thought I would share a vid with you guys.

Very cool. I always wanted one, but they're never available in my area. They are some sneaky little guys.Good eye! It is indeed a pink-streaked I picked up off the DD a couple weeks ago. I've owned a few over the years and I think they are one of my favorite fish (unlike their rude cousins the 6-lines). Ask anyone who owns one and I guarantee you they will say they love it ha.

Ok so this is labeled as a African KwaZulu Fairy Wrasse Female. It looks identical to what a couple other vendors are selling as female diamondtail flashers. What am I missing?

I think you're right, they are both pics of Cirrhilabrus sp 2/sp 3, kwazulu/kenyan fairy wrasse.
I'm 80% wrasse. Lol. Here's s little collage I put together of all my fish I cut out over black background. I'm pretty happy with this stock if it will stay this way.

I always advocate using acclimation boxes, but I agree about using them without sand.Thanks.
This may be a silly question but I've read leopards get easily stressed and die in quarantine tanks or just being moved a bit. Should the new potter's leopard be put into the social acclimation box or no? I understand they like sand, but will have to seal up some holes if I put him in the SA box with sand. Just trying to figure out the best way to do this while keeping the survival rate from going down on him.
Agree!Granted I have limited experience but I don't think QT is as stressful as throwing one in a tank with a bunch of established competitors for food and space.
And that being the reason I don't use sand either in them. Plus if the bury out of site, it really defeats the whole point of what you're trying to achieve.I agree with not putting sand in the acclimation box, as this will help the potters get used to the lighting schedule.
What do people know about Stethojulis bandanensis? There does not seem to be a lot of hobby information on them.
A very active, voracious planktivore. It is one of the most difficult fish to keep in the hobby. I am unaware of a single success story.
Why is it so hard to keep? With a big enough tank and enough live rock the diet should not be an issue. Are they hard to get to eat at all in captivity?
Yup; totally agree. Avoid the species completely. They simply cannot be provided with enough food in captivity. It has more to do with their needed caloric intake. They are more equipped at eating from the water column rather than effectively picking pods off of the rock. They need to feed quite frequently. Even in tanks of a couple hundred gallons they fail to thrive. Perhaps in tanks 500+g, but I have yet to see a success story.
It's possible your established male won't accept them.Lol thanks. They went in the tank and all was good until this morning found one dead. The other is missing. Keeping my fingers crossed
Beautiful male!My new M. geoffroyi in social acclimation. Ordered as a "small" but came in about 4".

Live blackworms, if you can find them in your area.Little feeding video. The Potter's was not interested in the LRS, gonna give some live food a shot tomorrow (any recommendations?) He was pacing along the glass all day yesterday, but has let up a little today.

Was told it was a male. Looks like it could possibly be a female. Anyone know?Caught my C. rubripinnis for persistent bulling towards my little C. lubbocki as well as to trade in towards a very nice C. rubrimarginatus. It cost a little more, but a very nice trade in my book. I've always liked the pink and the blue margin wrasses but they are not common in my area at all. He is in socail quarantine now. Even happier with my stock list now.
