These Dinos?

I've had 3 green killing machines die on me randomly.
Mine still seems to work, but I don't run it often--only when there's the threat of dinos. I also have the IM UV with pump (9w or 10w, can't remember) ready to go if needed.

Might be best to look for the IM unit as a safer bet. I also like the IM unit's build more than the green machine, which is clunky and awkward (but cheap and worked for me).

I like the look of that IM one as well. Appears they fit well into the Fluval 13.5 chamber. Unfortunately they are out of stock everywhere. I just found a green machine at petco (surprisingly). Going to set it up tonight.

I tried scooping the affected substrate up a few ago, not sure I removed anything, feels like I more or less just pushed crap up into the water column. I'll see if they reappear in the same spots later.

I also have that $20 microscope coming tomorrow that someone previously suggested, I'll see if I can get a slide ID tomorrow.

This sucks, I know it's just a part of reefing but I was originally thought these were just diatom blooms as they were really faint and no bubbles, today was the first day I noticed it this bad. I also just received my first rock anem today and sadly had to place him in my Dino tank, home sweet home lol

Beautiful RFA. You'll be fine. Stay calm, research, and put your time in resolving it. The IM uv i had for my nano worked great! Try to bring your nutrients into balance

that nem is healthy, and RFAs are hardy. Along with what others have said, remember that if you run into any roadbumps theres a lot of crazy knowledgeable people on here who will help you come to a good solution!

Does this help at all? Dino - Youtube

Hard to capture a video through the microscope but these seem to be what I'm trying to ID? They just kind of swim around and bump into each other.

With that being said the visual appearance of the dino's in the substrate is down about 70% since putting in the UV filter and cutting white lights.

Just an update if anyone searching forums was looking for intel. I kept up with dosing Nitrates and Phos. Testing daily. Cut white lights, Green Machine UV filter was on about 24/7 for a week, stirred up stand bed nightly and replaced filter floss every morning and dinos disappeared in about 8 days. I still have a few little brown spots (size of a pea) crop up here and there but I generally just stir them around and plug the UV back in for a night. Seems to be under control.

Uv filter looks like poop in the dt but it's temporary for now.
