These prices ... really?

+2 well said even I am seeing some of these sps frags fetch in some jaw dropping numbers. I like to collect mainly chalices and shrooms but like most folks been saying on here with time the supply and demand eventually even out and prices will drop. Theres no secret the chalice market has seen that in the past couple of months take for example my miami use to sell for bug bucks just last year now u can find eyes for as cheap as 30 bucks an eye only a handful of chalices will keep there value high such as bpc ft that one will never drop in price just my.02. So in conclusion these vendors posting up 2k frags plus shipping is hilarious and im glad im all lps id never drop that type of money even if I started an sps tank and I hope u sps collectors wise up

There are plenty of way overpriced lps out there too. I see chalice going for thousands, scolys for the same... I find paying several hundred dollars for "one eye" or one polyp of acan crazy. You can't single out sps collectors for the high prices.

It's funny when I see the "you get 1-2 eyes" for a extremely high amount.

yes true indeed it wasnt soo long ago GB was capitalizing on there krakatoa zoa that I was apart of so it goes from one coral to the next every month it just so happens that this month its sps :xd:

Well my thing is this..... There's a big difference between 1 and 2. I have been waiting on some crazy seller offering sps priced per polyp though. 15 years ago people would have thought selling button polyps priced per polyp to be insane. Now it has seemed to become the standard for most.

Anyhow, I don't see $200 Jawbreaker shrooms effecting the prices of other mushrooms. There are real expensive acros, montis and other SPS yet the other week I picked up 5 decent sized SPS frags for 60 bucks total. There are $120pp zoas, than there are still $5-$10pp zoas.

There are plenty of beautiful coral available for a more than fair price. Expensive designer clothes does not bring up the price of Fruit of the looms Shirts..

I am failing to see how this has an effect on the entire hobby which of course includes everybody.

Read back to Jon Warner's post. By hyping and overpaying here, people are driving prices up for the whole hobby because the Wholesalers are watching and moving prices up on perceived demand. So yeah, buy what you want but realize it impacts the whole hobby.

But when you are seeing a common Gold Torch fetch close to $200 per head or a saturated Rainbow RBTA going for $400 + shipping is whats the problem. The common coral thats over-saturated with photoshop going for 2-3 times the amount is the problem.

Yeah very good point! Luckily my acros have kept their colors from my LFS and actually look even better in my tank . But the color morphs are definitely something that happens. My LFS is awesome with providing me what I am looking for.

I have an lfs that sells colonies of everything imaginable. And all for the same price. Wether it's a plain jane zoa rock with 150 polyps or a 6" ultra colored sps colony. They are all about moving quantity of coral and don't worry about the quality

They had a few millis that were Rtn and had some tissue left. Instead of fragging it their thoughts are
Let it go. And don't worry about frags

I have since talked them into chopping up dying colonies to at least try and save a frag or 2.

I have got some colonies right out of the box that would fetch $500-$600 a frag. And watch the colors morph over a few month period to all green or purple. Just like a lot of the other high dollar ones I see from vendors

It's not greed if someone buys it

Just like a Bugatti is there anything that special that makes it 1.5 million?

Only that someone will spend that amount for a car

It looks good and your happy with it

But if you spend the cash you can own a babe Ruth rookie card. Value is all relative. Any item is only worth what someone will pay for it
