Watching things die isn't levity for me. Sorry that offends you.
You obv made a wrong assumption here about this guys intentions. Instead of doubling down on it and telling us stories about your sisters cat, maybe apologize like an adult - then go have a glass of wine and look at your tank...

Im so confused whats cruel? Mine get stuck in the rocks all the time or flip over and die theyre short lived creatures with a basic brain structure.
They are not short lived. That they have basic brain structures doesn't make them expendable. If you think that you not a good person.

Also something for you to think about, in the wild the wave action is strong. If these creatures become detached from the rock then they are dead. Mother nature has given them the tools to live in their environment, and staying attached is one of them.

You may want to check your parameters, because snails are incredibly sensitive to low alkalinity.

People wonder why this hobby has a bad reputation.

If you think that you not a good person.

"Good" and "bad" person is just an opinion.

People think I am a bad person because I eat meat. Cool, don't care.

I don't think this is the place to randomly (incorrectly) judge a person by a post on the internet. You aren't contributing.

Ah, that's better. A contribution. Keep this up and drop the other stuff.

OP, I hope the snails are doing work!

Tell me this when someone robs your house.

Disregard for life is something human beings universally shun.

If you think I am a vegan you are very wrong. I too eat meat, and I try to ensure that the animals that I am eating are ethically raised and live a cruel free life.

Putting a sick animal down is different that leaving it in horrid conditions to die. I am really having a hard time understanding why people are confused by all of this.

There is enough cruelty in this world, I don't want to add to it.

you may be getting off topic and i do believe you just misunderstood my OP, it was in no way meant to be anything but light hearted sarcasm about how "big" the snails are. The "uge" is slang for huge....Im sorry for that, but just know the snails are fine "they go nice with a little garlic and butter"....

It was a blatantly sarcastic remark. This has to be an English as non-native language thing to miss it right? Why keep arguing it? Everyone has made it clear, no one is hoping they die. Starting to border on trolling

You'll notice that I am not responding to your posts.

I stated my peace with you. Others jumping in on your behalf are first off clouding the original issue and second off superimposing their own views over the actually reality of what was said.

What I said to you still stands. I have nothing further to add.

Also, though it isn't a terrible thing to eat snails, which I doubt that you have done, the snail comment doesn't help the conversation. FWIW.

Lol, this clown... I guess it wouldn't be an internet forum without a few trolls floating around

This guy found the dead end and this is the exact spot I had one die in years ago but this time if he's there for a 3 day stretch I'll pull him out, thats allot of snail to decay there I dont understand why they go in holes theres no light no algae in there?

What you are doing is cruel.
Buying creatures to remove something from the tank and then not caring about whether those creatures live or die is cruel. I don't understand how anyone that isn't a psychopath wouldn't see that.

@HuduVudu Cruel, psychopath, nasty, not a good person... Anyone that judgmental has no place here on R2R, IMHO. Let me throw some perspective at you, if I may. I suppose if we all were to follow your logic, killing Aiptasia or Asterina starfish would be deemed cruel and we all would be nasty psychopaths who have no place amongst good people like you.

I think the OP has made abundantly clear what his intentions are regarding the snails. It might be time to step down from your pillar of superiority and contribute to successful reef keeping instead of commentary on how, in your opinion, so many of us reefers ("People wonder why this hobby has a bad reputation") are lousy people. This forum, and a vast majority of the contributors, exists to help people be successful and keep animals alive.

Hopefully, you are able to get him out.

You didn't say that in your original post.

If you are indeed borrowing then I will retract my statement. If not then it stands.

Why would it be cruel? We eat escargot... I equate cruel with unnecessary pain to the animal. I always found it funny that people who say it’s cruel to cycle with a fish, especially given today’s biological boosters, do so while eating a tuna sandwich. I‘m not disagreeing with you. Just wondering.

Wine... wine is just cruelly squished grapes. Shame on you. :D

Just kidding of course. Hope to light the mood a little.

Wow! Who knew a thead about snails could turn into something like this.

I agree.

Hi, all. I think open discussion is great, we need to watch personal attacks and stay on the topic of the OP. The Mods will delete other posts and they should not be part of the conversation.

Just my opinion.

You need to read the thread.

If you buy a puppy and then throw it in the back yard in sub zero temperatures while eating a burger, which are you being cruel for? If you tie up your dog with a rope and you never remove the rope, and the the rope causes the area to start to festering and scabing and you are eating chicken wings which is cruel? Do these seem incongruous to you?

I don't understand why you don't see the cruelty of treating an animal, even one that you are going to eat, as though it's life has no meaning. Maybe you can explain this to me.

Well, I did read the entire thread. Including the cat story. Abusing a dog or a cat is different from borrowing a crustacean. It seems most people would make a clear distinction here. I agree animals should not be abused, but what he’s doing doesn’t remotely rise to that level, in my opinion.
