I know this is going to sound horribly ironic but with my 150 (first tank) I'm so happy with how I set my tank rocks up. I took 6 hours of turning and flipping, having friends and family help me, looking over and under and epoxing rocks so it would work how I wanted, that I feel proud of how I made it look. I'm in love =P

You're sooo gonna change the rock work at some point...Especially now that you put it in writing that you love your rock work! LOL

I sat here and nodded my head as I read, this is great! Thanks for the laughs it brought, too. I sit on the same side of the fence, I see and hear this stuff daily. I, however, can happily say that none of these applied to me and I sit smiling alongside of Steve Weast. 
After decades in the hobby as well as in the industry, I have never aside from my first reef tank about 22 yrs ago, rearranged my rock work. Once it goes in it's set. I may add something over time, but I have never broken down a tank to rearrange it. I prefer the natural look. The algae doesn't get to me, it's supposed to be there. I do just enough to make sure it isn't hurting anything, but I don't spend oodles of money or time trying to eradicate it. When I choose my animals it is with function and balance in mind. I know I can never afford to keep all of the species I want, so I plan my tanks carefully because they don't get broken down again unless I'm ready to upgrade to a larger tank. I also plan and allow ahead of time for growth, which is something I see many people struggle with. I look through people's photos regularly and my first thought is "where is there room for growth without conflict?" Maybe I'm just more old school, but I think that nature is beautiful when let to take the lead, I wouldn't want a "garden tank". To me they just don't look natural.
