I actually bought some cheato once from the LFS. But I my defense I did not know a single person in the hobby. Lol
lol My folks/GF/Friends all give me flack for this!
I was on the phone with my BOE rep and she was asking me what I do for a living...I told her part of my income comes from "growing and aqauaculturing corals" -She said you do WHAT!? -It turned into a 45min conversation about sustainable aquarist practices!!

All of these have gotten me weird looks. There are also some actions that make us look weird.
When people are over and you all of a sudden act like if your spider sense went off from just a slight change in the sound of your tank.
Having a box arrive at work for me that says "live animals"
"My brain has lost some color"

Yeah, that thought occurred to me as I left a friends house one day. I had just bought several zoas, and he gave me Rasta's at a really great price! As I was crossing the street I realized I was smiling ear to ear as I carried all those baggies. I felt really paranoid at that point.
"I have to go home and make water"
"oh, I can frag all night long"
"I just don't have enough flow"
"I'm a reefer"- I'm so used to talking to other reefers that I actually said that to my physical therapist the other day when she asked if I had any hobbies. As soon as I said it I realized how it sounded and had to follow it up with " I have saltwater reef tanks, you know..."

I'm so waiting to here from someone who has been pulled over because of baggies. Lol
+1. It would have to be a very aware cop. Hopefully it doesn't lead to cavity searches.

I know someone who's door was kicked in by the cops! Guy had a pretty big frag operation in his garage. Neighbors noticed people coming and going a lot. Cops got a hold of the power bill and starting watching the place. They went in for a drug bust and found nothing but coral.

Yeah there was someone that had there door kicked in and the house search awhile back over power use. Rev started a thread on it. I did have a cop car parked in the stranges places when I had my halides running. Oops.
