Im think about it because I need salt and that is years ago I used Coralife Marine Salt and now I use Instant Ocean what salt mix do you all use

I started with Coralife (good results) but switched to Kent (good results). I've heard instant ocean's reef mix works well and I believe costs the least.

Switched from IO to reef crystals recently my self. If you look at the numbers of the elements that are in each mix it's a no brainer.

People have their favorites and as long as it works well for you, stick with it. test are just my comments and my opinion, for whatever it is or is not worth...

Hate to say it but nothing but I have bad things to say about Reef Crystals..it is great for those who like price over anything else..but reality is it is not a performer and every water change/mix I had to supplement to get to reef levels of Calc and ALK. Was fine for fish only. SO it ended up voting more and getting less out of it. PO4 was a bit high imo also for a salt mix.

I used Oceanic with great success for a long time. It mixed better than Red Sea (i have been told recently that Red Sea has been improved over the past year compared to the crap it used to be), I/O, Reff Crystals, and Kent. Recently I switched to Aqua Vitro Salinity, and have been blown away by it's performance. Seachem really outdid themselves with this product and the testing/certification that goes with every batch. It looks more expensive, but it is more concentrated so takes less to mix the same volume...so when broken down it is not much different in price than Oceanic or D&D. I have had outstanding results with it..far better than anything I have used.

I use ESV. After i do a water change all of my LPS sweeper tentacles come out. They normally only come out at night. I have been using it for 8 months and i will never use any other salt unless i have no other option.

I use the new red sea salt formula. I like that its made from NSW. I've used io and reef crystals and with both I used kalk but since switching monthly wc keeps up with calc/alk. 440calc 7.8-8.0 alk. New batch po4 is o.oo on hanna checker.

In My Opinion, Absolutely!!!! My tanks are loving it..corals that were neglected and receding bounced back very quickly!
Other things I love around this salt is the rigid manufacturing of this salt. It is truly anhydrous, meaning the containers are zero water volume, and they only sell in buckets (with gaskets and locking lids) to keep it out. Bags allow moisture in. The size of granules are uniform amongst the components, so in testing (which sachem did) there were not the settling issues related to other salts. This means much more uniform results from each bucket. It is also more concentrated..less than 1/2 cup per gallon, so less goes farther and you get more out of a bucket....this actually makes the salt more in line price wise than you think. After 500 gallons of water changes my salt cost compared to Oceanic was the same. Again, this is merely my opinion...E.S.V I have heard good things about as well, but I love the Salinity and definitely think it's worth the money!

im probably one of the ones who has been using salinity the longest around here as i have been using for a couple years now. and i will say.. its well worth the money..

What about the Tropic Marin stuff? Anyone have experience with that?

i've been using it for about 2 years now, changed to reef crystal, then found my SPS started to lose color.. then I changed it back.

I was using red sea and switch back to TM. love it. But I'm start salinilty on my frag tank Yesterday.
