Getting back to the OP, depending on what you like about the hobby, you could consider switching over to fresh water for a few years. When my tank was freshwater, it practically ran on auto pilot. I had to do very, very little to it. Top it off when the water got low enough that I could hear the HOB filter splashing, once a day (usually at night after lights out) or so glance over at the tank to make sure the little red lights on the heaters were turning on from time to time, small water changes here and there (with tap water) and feed the fish a few times a week.

When I was ready to be done with my freshwater tank there were probably 2 or 3 fish in it. I'll bet I spent an average of 5-10 minutes a week doing any kind of maintenance and it was probably 2 years before that last fish died. Even when I spent 'a lot' of time on it, the most time consuming thing was a partial water change was pretty fast with a python and the ability to run a hose directly from the tap to the tank. No salt, no filters, nothing other than half a cap full of prime.

Thinking about it now, it would be even easier since I have the equipment already connected to handle AWC and ATO. Literally the only thing I'd have to do is toss some flakes in it and maybe once a month drag out the python to kick up the detritus in the gravel.

Hello!

I am new to the forum and actually stumbled on it after looking for a place to sell my setup.

I have a 32-gallon BioCube. I have been in the hobby since the start of 2018. I love the world of reefing but unfortunately, as my children get older I struggle to find time for the hobby.

Good luck to you and your family. I was able to afford to return to hobby because some wonderful person (like you) needed to leave for a while (to afford daughter's college start). We joke he bought lots of great stuff to sell to us at discount - but truly it has been such joy. Your tank will go on to make someone else very happy.
