Water test Wednesday.
Tested this am 6:30 just uploading results now.
25.5 C. 1.024
Ph 7.82 now at 6:45 pm only 8.02. Scrubber isn't helping.

Tested alk 2x conf low #.
Dosed my weekly prodibio.
Increased alk dose to 7ml/2 hrs or 84 ml/day. Decreased Ca a hair.
Sent in my monthly icp test for moonshiners.
This alk thing has got me stumped. Could the scrubber be reducing the alk? It's not showing as helping increase the Ph. So I can't see that being the case. Will test alk again tomorrow need to get it back to a level good for the sps before I start losing them.
 
Downstairs feeding into the return pump should be fine. Typically, unless your fish are lazy they'll grab the bulk of it before the overflow catches it.

Idea: figure out the timing on the feeder and how long it takes most of the food to make it to the tank and then have your return pump automatically shut off 1 minute (or more if required) after the food is upstairs?
 
I was thinking that might require a Y or T fitting directly into the return line for best results but then the Kamoer would have to overcome the weight of the water pushing back from upstairs (since water always wants to find the path of least resistance) and then you'd need a check valve to keep the water from pushing back in once the Kamoer shut back off.

Yeah not wanting to mess with any of the existing plumbing, I think that's just asking for a failure.

Make it dump in as close to the return pump inlet as possible and it should be good enough.
 
Just remember to keep the tube above the water level when the pump shuts off. I know you know, just mentioning anyway.
After all, friends don't let friends make accidental stupid mistakes. Unless the camera is running and then they totally encourage it.

sorry to be the bad guy but I would work on minimizing how long the tube outside the fridge is, both before and after the doser.
 
Agreed. Food needs to be flushed out of the tube or it will foul. You could set up a T barb inside the little fridge, drill another hole in the side and run a tube from another dosing head to the T barb to flush the food that gets pumped by the first head. Then the food will always remain refrigerated except when it is pumped out.

Need to squeeze the food through a check valve.
Could just dilute the food and pump more per feeding so not so much goes bad if you didnt want to change too much.
 
How are you at drilling glass? You could go out the side of the fridge and in through a bulkhead on the side of the sump. Bonus would be that is would put the output directly next to the pump intake.

That's about the shortest length of tubing I can do. The length outside the fridge to the tank is total including the pump 30inches. I am hoping to run some "tests" this weekend to see if it back siphons into the container in the fridge after its done "feeding" or if it stays in the tubing. Main reason I want to keep in basement, its cooler there and less of a distance in the tube to tank. May be able to get it a bit shorter but not much.

Wouldnt a tbarb just pull from both the food and the flush then?
Food will be thawed and liquid when it goes so not a solid or even semi solid consistency.

Oh, I appreciate the idea, but this is strictly a temporary thing. I go on a week's Vaca in the beginning of January and then again at the end of January. that would be the only use of the "contraption" until May and then June. it's more of a convenience thing since my neighbors won't be here for the late January trip to come over and feed.

food will be diluted that is part of the testing this weekend as well. the dosing amount and the dilution amount. dont want to run out of food and run the pump dry.
