a drywall screw seems to be the trick in untested iron levels w bare bottom tanks
always seem to find one rotting away in the tanks... true story...

The previous owner of my tank had a metal hose clamp holding the return line to the pump below the water line. Sold it because of algae issues.

Thanks! I tried a diy turf scrubber on the old tank. It worked OK, but I really was too new at the hobby to realize what it was or why I needed it. May try one again. I like the fuge for pod real estate. But I have a feeling I just evicted quite a few with the mud removal. Still rocks though.
Changed rodi filters and mixing ca and alk now. Whoo hoo Saturday mornings.

Yup. I miss Fiji Mud. I don't remember there being anything magnetic in that, but maybe I want looking hard enough. I'm still using the Life Source, just making sure to pull out all the magnetic stuff with a strong magnet.
