Third time better be the charm

Heading home now. Flying in tomorrow pm. Fingers crossed all is ok with the tank. Ready to get back to a normal routine.

I guess it wasn't whether to rinse or not that had me perplexed. It was whether you should take the sand out and rinse it and then put it back in. I guess that just sounded silly to me. #blameitonthegummy
The easiest solution to cloudy, filters. So, its silly. Im late... i know.

Edit: i could turn this into a huge rant. But, i think id need to borrow my husbands rig..... i dont puff...

Edit: may not be getting out until tomorrow. Hanging out to see if we can get on via standby but worst case will fly out tomorrow and get home then around midnight.

Stuck in San Juan be home tomorrow after midnight. At least it's warm, and we're not sleeping on the floor in the airport like last trip.

Short version: things are fine but something happened not sure what (yet). Have theories. Will know more soon.

Long version:
Got home around 1 am. Return section of sump was way down (return pump was sucking air) and ato was beeping. Tank water level was way too high. Initial look was fuge algae blocked weir in sump which caused restricted flow to return pump. This caused water level in return chamber to drop and ato to over fill to point it shut off. Good thing. Removed culerpa and chaeto to allow sufficient flow to return and tipped off about a gallon of ro. Cleaned weir in sump and in tank overflow. Threw in socks. Skimmer level is fine. But why did it grow so much algae so fast???? Something must have died or I overfed pellets (normally feed frozen) causing higher levels that spurred the growth? Also back up may have caused back flow into gfo causing release of po? Lights are still out but can already tell glass is filthy.
Tested :
25.2 C. 1.027. Ph 7.87. Po 109/.334. Ni 25. Alk 6.1. Ca 440. MG 1500+.
Levels are within my normal except Po leading to my 3 theories. For now just hoping everything made it and I was just overfeeding pellets. Will know more once lights on and glass cleaned.
Need to change gfo, order supplies this week.

That’s a lot to deal with at 1 am. Glad everything is ok !

So to celebrate not nuking the tank I ordered some more Moonshiners stuff, some test kits and Rodi replacement filters. Living dangerously now. Already shopping on Reeftrader for LEAR in a few weeks. Already have a BC Bubble Bath Unicorn, JF Solar Flare and Purple Starburst reserved.

Lights on glass "cleaned" all present and accounted for. Nothing is mad as far as I can tell, just hungry.
What a relief!

Finally changed out the GFO and dosed some Prodibio. Man caught a head cold on the trip and kindly gave it to me. My head is full of snot and I am sneezing like crazy. Dog does not appreciate that. Testing tomorrow. Also need to purchase a Bumble Bee Army to deal with the Vermitids. Night.

New NASCAR show on Netflix btw, 2023 chase recap mini series, pretty good!
except i dont have netflix anymore :( Forcast for this weekend in california not looking good.
