Been stuck with this crazy algae for ages, its brown and green and doesn't seem to go away =/
Thinking of setting up a cheato reactor or something to help rid this stuff? What are your thoughts?

Chaeto....yup Algae fights algae....
What have you tried so far?
You tried Vibrant yet? H2O2 spot treatments?
There are some decorative macros that look nice in the DT. but of course Turbo snails love most...
Oh I'm new to this stuff whats vibrant and H202?
I just got back into this stuff after a long hiatus so a lots changed.

OH NO not them! They may do the job. I got rid of all my hermits for climbing up on my monti breaking off branches, not one or two but seven at one time.
+1 not them!! Absolutely hate emerald crabs. Had one tare up my xina and spread it all over the tank.

I think I have 1 green and one red emerald crabs left. They know I am after them so they hide very well. They don't even come at night anymore, I check every night. maybe they starved themselves. LOL

Personally, I would go the Vibrant + very large turbo snails route in that tank. However only dose about half to 3/4 of what the instructions say on the Vibrant, and only once a week. If you stay at it, that algae should break up and disappear in about 3 months or less. You can ‘maintenance dose’ the tank after that.

H2O2 is peroxide ... the 3% store stuff works ...don’t use the 35% food grade stuff like I did ...plenty of how to threads on peroxide and algae control

2 pencil urchins. Charcol or carbon. Youll need to either increase flow, filtration, or more water changes. Or all 3.
D
Tested the water after ages and yeah it ain't looking good... API test kit for phos at 10ppm and nitrates at like 70ppm. So there's a lot of stuff wrong with the tank at the moment. Not sure I can add any inverts with these params.

I had great success recently with brightwell razor in combination with microbacter 7. I would also toothbrush my rocks every night. My tank has never looked better its quite amazing The before and after shots are night and day different and dramatically better !!

Thanks for the info I'll read into it! I've never really messed with dosing besides the vitamin C way back then.
