I feel like I've just watched a series of "life hacks" from Five Minute Crafts or some other YouTube content farmer. Except read it in word form. Awesome!

Maybe I've just become wired to expect short, snappy videos with dubious content instead of reading it in a thread. I feel like the original idea could really be elevated with a few more winky emojis. Nonetheless, I feel a sudden urge to cut the power off and have my partner and kids stand at the aquariums for a few hours, siphoning water into filter pads and boiling kettles of water for the "heat packs".

Lol, some siphons have an auto flow because everything compresses so some siphons will just do there thing. It can be hard to get a good flow going.

no it is impossible to do because you need the water to exit at a lower point, gravity causes lower pressure at the siphon and water can continue to flow out. I think that is how it works correct me if im wrong, but the siphon exit must be below tank water level

You could keep that siphon going if you kept pumping that primer part every couple of minutes. That may get old fast though...

I can't imagine myself running up and down the stairs every few minutes lol.
