Haha! No sales tax, the shell was free. I didn't think it could be anything good, but I thought id post it on here to see what everyone thought. I had another shell they gave me that had aiptasia in it, but it was easy to identify. I couldn't find any pictures of aiptasia that looked like this. The only pest I found that resembled it was majano.

LOL! Maybe you're the one who was right over Lionfish Lair!! I could be wrong!
There are little anemones that look like that both inside and outside of the genus aiptasia. That's why I but the "/" in there, because I'm really not sure which it is. I pretty much consider most small hitchhiking anemones "pest anemones", because they all have the propensity to reproduce rapidly, some more than others.

So I guess I should toss this thing before it starts to reproduce? I really hate that it's a pest because it does look cool. Looks like this is something a lot of newbies experience.

It looks similar to one I had. It didn't seem to reproduce rapidly at first, but after awhile, he invited friends to the party. They were as hard go get rid of as any of the other more common looking aippies, once they got established.

Mojano anemone. I had one that got huge in my first reef tank. My roommate thought it was cool so he fed it. It ended up eating my cleaner shrimp. I was able to pop it off the rock by prying it's foot with a flat head screwdriver

I was really hoping it would be some kind of cool anemone and not a pest. I'm going to toss it out while it's still in that shell and easy to remove. Thanks everyone for your input!

You can take any anemone as good or bad, it's really a matter of personal preference. I've seen people actually raise mojanos like they were rare and valuable. To someone who has never had a species completely take over, a lot of nems can be very beautiful.
My opinion, if you think it's neat, and are willing to keenly observe it, then there's no harm in keeping it. If it grows really fast, splits readily, or if you notice one magically appear somewhere else in the tank, then I'd suggest removing it/them. A lot of species reproduce exponentially, so have a removal/treatment plan just in case (unless you already chucked it...).
it does look like a baby rock nem but it's sure got a lot of tentacles for a baby...so maybe mojano.
