This was in an empty hermit shell I got from my LFS

Side note, an easy way to tell is to shine a uv light on them. Rock nems will light up like a Christmas tree whereas aiptasia will just look dark purple like coralline does during the day. Never had a mojano to try it on so I can't speak to that one.

Yep see: lights off Rock nems

You can take any anemone as good or bad, it's really a matter of personal preference. I've seen people actually raise mojanos like they were rare and valuable. To someone who has never had a species completely take over, a lot of nems can be very beautiful.

My opinion, if you think it's neat, and are willing to keenly observe it, then there's no harm in keeping it. If it grows really fast, splits readily, or if you notice one magically appear somewhere else in the tank, then I'd suggest removing it/them. A lot of species reproduce exponentially, so have a removal/treatment plan just in case (unless you already chucked it...).

It's still in there. I'm going to keep it at least another couple of days just to watch. My tank is just a few months old, so there isn't much in there to look at.

That's great! Just make sure you keep an eye on it. You should research removal techniques beforehand and aquire any items now so you are only dealing with 1 or 2, not 1 or 2 hundred if it splits.....seriously.

@ahiggins advice should be seriously considered. She has an interesting and informative thread about rock anemone propagation, if that's what yours is.

Mine is super bright like that from my ocean revive lights. It's the first thing your eyes are drawn to when you look in my tank. Although there really isn't much in there to look at.

The shell is still worth something ! Take it out and soak in bleach ,rinse and air dry out in the sun. Perfect home for a future hermit !

:) (I wish I had a thumbs up emoji)

It looks similar to one I had. It didn't seem to reproduce rapidly at first, but after awhile, he invited friends to the party. They were as hard go get rid of as any of the other more common looking aippies, once they got established.

As this thing grows, it's looking more like what you had. Just thought I'd post an updated picture.
