Throwing this out there to see what everyone thinks. Would really value the opinions of those of you who have kept these fish or combinations of these fish through adulthood. Obviously all first are individuals but I want opinions based on tendencies and probability. I also know one of the biggest potential problems I have facing me is the clown trigger. He is a captive bred tigger and has yet to show any aggression with current tank mates. He is about 6-7 inches now. My plan with him would be that if I decide to indeed make him part of this community. He would go into the tank months after everyone else was in and had established themselves. So, here goes.....

Stocking List

Angels

✓ Emporer (Have already)
Queen KP. ( I will get from KP aquatics)
Annularis

Harley Aussie
Broomtail
Banana (male and female pair if advisable)
Red Breast

Others

Gold lined rabbit fish. CB

*** other wish list fish****
if any can be safely added for long term success or possibly substituted for a fish on the list above, i would consider it

Pair of Crosshatched triggers

Would also consider a shoal of butterflies as opposed to the individuals listed above

Man the scales are gonna fly in that tank LOL.

Few thoughts (poking holes) .....

I’m not a huge fan of the clown trigger. Only kept one once and it was a complete SOB. Maybe not Sohal psychotic but close. I really like the Caribbean angels but they get large, even for a 650. Good list of tangs, though the V is a bit more fish that I like in my 450. Not just long, but major girth. I’m useless at keeping the moorish idol, your tank maybe a bit on the aggressive (or at least active) side for them. Pyramid butterfly similar coloration and WAAAY easier.

Thanks for the opinion in the Vlamingi. Gives me something to think about. Want a good “referee” tang which from my understanding Naso genus tangs are good at. Vlamingi or not will still have the Naso. Decided no on the idols just forgot to take them off the list. Think I am leaning on Pakistan Butterflies as I think they are a bit understated but quite striking in reality. The clown trigger is really the wild card and I understand that.

That's a lot of big angels in a 650. I would maybe pick 3 and try that. French gets huge and the passer will be a total jerk.

Personally I think the clown has a good chance in a tank that large.

Can part with the idea of no passer or maculosus . Hard to get rid of the queen and French and imperator.

I think bumping the passer would be a really good idea. No maculosus also helps your cause. I guess your pretty set on the French. If I had to have another angel I would do a blueface in your tank.

I have an emporer and it's my favorite angel. Queen is gorgeous to though.

Dogface is a nice puffer but I'd look at trying to fit in a s&s. The color will compliment your other fish and its more bold to compete for food with what you have.

Thanks on the Stars and Stripes info! Really do want a French but not sure if 660 gallons is enough. Might stick with imperator, queen and annularis but blue face is a looker too!

Bump!!! Would love to hear more! This is my largest system ever and I want to make it a place where fish thrive for 10+ years!!!!

Unicorn tang. From your list, I assume little to no coral in tank planned.
many cool groupers such as miniatus and strawberry grouper. Panther grouper also cool
ALSO NIGER TRIGGER

my experience with a Minautus grouper was it will eat EVERY thing small enough to fit in it's mouth.
is this a fish only build?

So at first I read stocking a 65 gallon, and was writing a very long comment of why 95% of the fish you listed weren't going to work. However I happen to be flipping between tabs and saw it says 650 gallons, and then this list made more sense. It looks pretty good imo, I'm not overly familiar with the large angels but it should be a sweet setup when all is said and done.

My thoughts regarding the grouper would be to make sure all fish in the tank will reach a size too big for his mouth and put him in towards the end of stocking and make sure I put him in smaller than all other tank mates. Think that can work?

No coral initially planned. 1-2 years down the road when greater stability is reached I will try to introduce some unappetizing noxious soft corals and maybe some anemones.

Would love a niger.....love the way they swim.

@vetteguy53081 with all your years of experience do you think the angel stocking is ok or do the atlantic angels just get too big even for 650?

That's with all fish. ANY FISH THAT CAN FIT IN ANOTHER FISHS' MOUTH SOONER OR LATER WILL !! "

Angel stocking looks good but do it gradually and ive found the atlantics more challenging due to diet but if they adapt to frozen/pellet foods, you have winners
