I'm fighting a bout of velvet myself on Vanderbilt chromis. Not sure if they are just tough fish or if the brand of copper I got is less harsh (I'm told by the LFS it is the latter). Look for Copper Power instead of Cupramine. It is supposedly in a form that is less toxic to fish and they aren't as stressed by the sudden jump in copper levels. I'm on day 3 of treatment with them and they all look and are eating great. I followed the advice in the linked thread exactly.

Copper Power and Copper Safe are both chelated copper products. Cupramine is an Ionic copper. Neither is less toxic than the other, but chelated copper can be less harsh on the fish than ionic copper. Just to be clear though, copper in any form is a poison. Parasites arn't able to live in it as long as fish can which makes it effective against them and is also why we test so carefully with it.
