Okay, so when you say all stages, do I take it out of the tank every week and acclimate it? Anyways, would a 40g system with just a nassarius snail in the sand bed be good? I saw one at my lfs and it was bright red, white spikes etc.
No, once it's acclimated to your tank it's acclimated... All stages referring to the diver collecting and holding them at their point, the diver selling to a distributor, distributor to your lfs. Each time this animal is moved it has to be slowly acclimated to avoid osmotic stress, it's something you can't really control except at the point you acclimate. It's just hard to see any outward signs of distress with cukes, where as if you were buying a fish you'd notice it swimming funny, rapid breathing, swollen bellies etc.

One nassarius seems a little slim for a 40 but I don't have any my gobies and pistol take care of the sand, my wrasses kill small snails. You can always add one and then get another or something else if one isn't enough though.

Lol it's up to you, I knew the risks and decided to try it. I now decided not again, I'd just do as much reading as you can and if you decide to try do your very best to follow the examples of those who were successful. I wasn't so I'm not a good example lol. Also realize that the cuke will eventually die, if it's happy and healthy it could be years and years down the road but you should always keep the mind set to check on it and ensure an immediate removal when it does.
