Getting ready to build my aquascape. Once I have the arrangement, I want to use these tiny plastic pellets (melted down) to "glue" the structure. Saw them on another thread with the link and ordered a few bags. Has anyone ever used these? No instructions with them.

Also, I have one piece of blue coral from ages ago. Would it be better to isolate it from the rest and let it be a second focal point?

My advice in having spent a lot of time looking at similar threads is that if you can make the scape look natural that is the first step. Because the rocks will eventually be covered in corals, you need to plan for the negative space and how those areas will look to compliment the colorful corals. Most of the best tanks, you don't even see the rockwork anymore and the corals will form the shelves and ledges of the reef.

The varied heights look great.

The shelf space will give you lots of room for flat frag disks.
You could use a drill bit for ceramic tile and a slow drill to add some holes for regular frag plugs on the shelf pieces.
There is almost no way to do that gracefully, so take your time and be VERY careful of your fingers!
Lol, and no matter where I drilled, it always ended up being too deep, broke the rock, or the holes were too close or to far when it came time to adding the frag plugs with corals on them. YMMV

The space between the rocks will give hiding spots for small fish.
The pieces are small, but as it ages and coralline algae grows on it they will knit together a lot more visually.

Yes, I like a lot of rock for the fish to hide in and swim through and for the bacterial filtration.

Hey Miami realtor, I like the footprint and the three structures. but I have two observations.

- It seems a bit symmetrical. I think by having one of the three segments higher (or shorter) than the other you could take it to next level

- Similarly, it looks like all three stacks are running along the back half of the tank. Personally, I am jealous you have so much "real estate", but could be neat to move oen of the structures towards (or angled) at the front of the tank.

Just my thoughts, but this is going to be a really awesome tank.

I am currently waiting for all my Dry Pukani to come in and I decide to use the Golden Ratio on my tank and went ahead and did the whole grid on my tank to help me out from all angles for my future aquascape ! I can’t wait , I’ll post something when I am done

I used the Golden Ratio on my Planted tank and loved it , it was such a huge help !

Great article. I've seen so many tanks that just end up looking like rocks dumped in a pile with very bad coloration (including me when I first started). Wish I saw this article back in the day.

I always start aquascaping outside the tank first to get a good overall look. To get them stacked together i flue my rock with cyanoacrylate glue. It is reef safe and allows you to have awesome caves and structures. It also prevents the rock from falling and marking up the glass or killing fish and corals.

Any feedback on my scape? Im still in the process of designing it, im waiting until im more confidant to start pegging and drilling.
