I got a Moorish Idol almost two months ago. He is eating like crazy, put on weight and is super healthy. Only problem is, he loves corals. I knew that there was a good chance he would not be reef safe but I told myself I wanted the fish more than some corals.

So far all SPS is safe. However, he loves Acans, Favias, Chalice, GSP, and Xenia. I'm now contemplating selling the Idol so I can keep my favorite corals again. What to do???

Or, should I get an Angel and go deeper down the rabbit hole?

:)

AHHH Tough one! I say go deeper down the hole!

Oh yes! LOL!

if you have a happy eating idol then I would continue. That fish is very cool and you could always go SPS only reef and your tank would still be very nice

My thoughts exactly lol... Idols are way to cool to pass up...

Its the down side to this hobby, the coolest fish alway seem to be, not reef safe :( I know these are way cool fish, but never checked on them as I knew they weren't reef safe. Will they not go after sps corals?

Time for that FOWLR

leave a good thing alone! if your missing your softies why not set up another tank for them? I wouldn't want to risk selling the idol & the stress of it all killing it

Keep the Idol for sure ! They are waaayy too cool to pass up and there are plenty of softies out there to keep your tank well stocked with a wide variety

i will have the perfect tank up for sale shortly so that you can do an LPS tank.

I went deeper down the rabbit hole and brought home a blue face angel today.

Is this a blue face or emperor? He was free so I took it home regardless.

He's sleeping in the fuge for now used to the tank.

I set up a separate tank to house anything but sps just so I could keep all Lps and softies in one tank and keep my idols with my sps in my display tank with the idols it's well worth it!
