Tomani, white tail, or two spot bristletooth tang?

if you were to choose one which one would you go with. I’m struggling because I like the white tail but it’s pricey and they all kind of have a similar coloration beside a white tail or yellow fins.

White tail, if money isn't a big deal. Standard kole is nice too. Truncatus (indian or spotted kole) is a really good one that you don't often see.

The Spotted Kole is beautiful. Especially when the lighting has just a bit of blue pop. Dr Reef happens to have a consistent supply, I believe.

That’s who I’m ordering through. So it was up to those options.

i vote tomini as it is what i currently have. whitetail looks nice though.

I have a spotted and white tail. Both are awesome fish and look really nice. So don’t think you can miss with either of those.

I would go for the Twin Spot if you didn’t want to spend quite so much money on a white tail. I personally wanted the White Tail but settled for the Twin Spot and haven’t had any regrets. Obviously if I had a 6-7’ tank I’d try and house both species.

I was doing some more research and I feel like the twin spot may outgrow my 70 gallon a little to quick. From what I read they would get the biggest out of all 3. I may have to go with a Tomani for the size.

Of my 20 tangs, 1 is a Tomini … I am thinking to add another! Coloring seems to have gotten even better with age.

If it helps, my Ctenochaetus is in a 4’x2’x18” tank. They don’t actually get bigger than the other 2 and all of them max out at 4 inches normally.

Sometimes I wonder how much misinformation is on LiveAqueria, they say max size is 8 inches, so that really concerned me.

Fully QT'd. Came in fat and happy, dropped it right into my DT tank and it was out and eating within an hour.

They are just taking max total length from fishbase, in most cases it seems like. Most Ctenochaetus are pretty close in max size, other than Chevron and striatus, according to my sources. Tomini is a *little smaller, arguably. If you're choosing between any of them, besides the 2 big ones, size is pretty negligible. I do think that Tomini seems to come in at a younger/smaller size than when kole was coming out of Hawaii.

Hawaiian Koles often came in at a larger size but the others seem to come in all around the same size.
Chevrons came in at a smaller size but that’s because everyone wanted the juvenile colours over the ugly teen stage.
