Avast diaphragm pump....it says it is not built for saltwater or continuous usage. Only as an ATO lift pump

I emailed CPR attached is there response
TOMs discontinued the Aqua Lifter pump earlier this year. Besides some very overpriced pumps on ebay I am not sure if there are any retailers with pumps left in stock.

According to the distributors we’ve sourced Aqua Lifters from in the past another manufacturer is going to resume production of the pump. We were told that they will be available again towards the end of this year.

In the meantime we have been experimenting with alternative powerheads to use in place of the Aqua Lifter.

We have found that a few venturi powerheads can be used.

The Hydor Ario 4 is excellent at maintaining the siphon.

We have a modified JBJ Acella powerhead in stock that works well set up in the display tank or in the sump.

The Rio 600 PT (or 800 PT) will work well too.

With any of these powerheads you will want to make sure they are just under the surface of the water, if you place them too deep the venturi will have a harder time clearing air from your overflow.

I hope this helps.

I just had mine die on me last night and there are NONE for sale. At least I know why now. I was using it to maintain the syphon on my overflow box. Is there an alternative?

Thread resurrection.

Any news on where we can buy an aqua lifter or equivalent? Are they still going to re-start production here in the next few months?

I really hope so. When mine went caput almost a year ago I searched everywhere for a rebuild kit/new pump to no avail. It was handling the suction on a hob overflow. So I would like to purchase one asap even though I've found a much better pump to run the overflow. I will luk when I hear something best I can do

For years you could buy these kits to rebuild AquaLifter pumps. Well in the last couple of years vendors kept showing "out of stock" and when I asked about them they all said "just buy a new pump, they're cheap". Well problem is I own 6 and two were in need of rebuild and I have no plans of adding anything more to landfills then I have too. Well low & behold - Marine Depot has them for $14.00 per kit and it takes minutes to rebuild. Just an FYI

Going to order a couple to keep on hand. Thanks
