  • Coral Beauty -- "Bear"
  • 3 Firefish -- "The Crusaders"
  • 2 Anthias -- they are also part of "The Crusaders" group. I had four, two died and they suddenly started schooling with the Fire Fish.
  • Coral Banded Shrimp -- "Lefty". He was missing his left arm when we purchased him. He has since grown it back.
  • Lawnmower Blenny -- "Dumbledore II"
  • Bicolor Blenny -- "Benny"
  • Tuxedo Urchin -- "Archie"
  • 2 Blackish Ice Clowns -- "Blaze" and "Rocket"
  • Blood Red Fire Shrimp -- "Dr. Zoidberg"
  • Purple Tang -- "Nightwing". Nightwing is currently in qt and has been doing great until two days ago when I noticed white poop. :mad: So now I'm treating for that. I'm really grateful to R2R threads for stuff like this.

Nice names, my wife names all my fish too. Except one, my female clown; I named her mrs maam because of her attitude.

I woke up this morning with green algae everywhere. Imagine diatoms -- but green. Hey, it is almost St. Patty's Day, after all. I didn't have time to test the water so I put it off until I got home from work. I've been home for 30 minutes and I'm avoiding the testing by posting this message. I guess you can say I'm side-stepping the outcome. I'll get there eventually. I just don't want to see the results.

I'm relatively certain it isn't cyano. The pics don't really do it justice. It looks rather lime green. My tank has only had water in it for four months, so I'm guessing this is just part of the swings in the water chemistry during the first year or two. It seriously looks like bright green diatoms. I'm going to give it a good cleaning tomorrow and do more than my usual 10% water change. I'm not too concerned at this point, but I want to stay on top of it.

A ricordea and zoa frag were murdered over the weekend. I'm calling up the usual suspects...
  1. Purple Tang -- never seen him eat at a polyp, but he is guilty by association with other nibblers. He is new to the tank but well fed.
  2. Coral Banded Shrimp -- the corals were in his territory and I have had him awhile. I have also never seen him eat at a coral.
  3. Fire Shrimp -- While I wouldn't put it past him, his territory is on the far opposite side of the tank, and the cbs would never let him near his turf.
  4. Tuxedo Urchin -- I had a loose zoa polyp sitting in the sand and he plucked him up and is currently wearing it around the tank like he's balancing a mini flower pot on his head. Perhaps he likes the look and became aggressive with others.
  5. Hermit Crabs -- Sometimes they nibble a bit too close and I've seen them jump a snail before (horrifying).
Who is my Keyser Soze?

Completely OT, but I collect movie posters.
I have a rare poster for that movie that was withdrawn from theaters and quickly replaced.
Can anyone guess why? (You have to remember the movie well!)

I need to know. The last time I saw the move it was in movie theaters. I'm guessing that Kevin Spacey is holding the wrong arm.

What I've learned about this tank and future tanks (so far).
#1 -- I'm going to be getting a new sump. Maybe not soon, but eventually. The model I purchased (ESHOPPS R-300) has the return pump in the back. I have to get on my hands and knees and stick my head way in the back of the stand to check it out. You do this a couple times and you realize the mistake. I'm either going with a different model or am making my own -- will decide that in the future. For now it works.
#2 -- I am 5'5" tall. I cannot reach the bottom of the display tank -- even when I stand on a step stool. I have grabbers I use, but they do not pick up rocks well. Because I can't reach the bottom, I have to pull out the rocks to glue on the corals instead of placing them in the tank. There is no way I can reach down that far without a snorkel. If I did it again, I would have gone with a smaller tank height. Although I do love the size when I'm not submerged.
