Suppose this is not a bad problem to have, having too many BTA's. I've only purchased one, about 5 years ago. Since then I have taken well over a dozen to the LFS for credit. Lately he has so many that he's only taking them because I'm a regular. I only have 2 small salt tanks so don't need more than 1 each. The BTA in the 45g just did a 4 way split and now the one in the 25 looks like it's working on a 3 way. I "trade" live rocks with the LFS to capture the BTA's to return them.
I don't feed them so I doubt there is anything I can do to stop/slow their splitting, just keep trading rocks with the LFS.

I have 11 small ones (started with 2) in a 30 gallon tank. They're all on one rock, but they don't seem to sting any coral lol. Do you have a technique for removing them from their rock?

It will become a horrible problem. They are not the easiest to remove. I had one that split so bad I had to remove most rock and scrape them off. Almost all of the ones given/sold also split like crazy.

Nem cannon.

i've tried basically everything i've heard works.
Between using ice and direct flow to make them uncomfortable or pulling their rock and hanging them to encourage movement, i've had no luck. Essentially all that has worked is either using bonecutters and cutting up your liverock to get access to the foot and carefully peeling it off or the best case scenario, catching them on the move.

3 certain things in life. death, taxes and me going to home depot to build a fleet of "nem cannons" this weekend lol. I appreciate the post bro

Agree with these seems like a good problem at the time observation. I think I have nine now in a 15 it all started with two slightly different color morphs. And of course the clowns won’t host them.
I’ve seen a post on a technique using a tube to coax them out but have yet to try that.
Clearly will be in the giving away rock phase here pretty quickly.

I used a plastic butter knife to start peeling the foot a tiny bit. Once you get under it they let go but getting under it can be a pain.

Not that I know of, I'm in Downeast Maine and happy to have a real LFS not too far away.
You’re lucky to have a good lfs close by. I’m in Boston and there are none. I’ve visited multiple in the greater Boston area (because there are none located in the city) and only one had decent fish for livestock, though their coral selection was pretty small and the tank had algae everywhere. Thankfully Boston has a pretty robust reef club otherwise I’d be pulling my hair out lol.

Could try using the "nem cannon" so you don't have to keep removing/rearranging the LR.

Could try posting on craigslist/facebook to see if anyone is interested. Be careful though, as the LFS might not want to take more if you are also selling them/competing with the. . .

Yes, the LFS is a blast from the past. A 60-ish old "kid" runs it from his house, also makes guitars and collects and fixes pinball machines. The man is living his hobbies, and is getting ready to set up a model railroad. Bottom line, nice guy, knows his fish and has good prices.

sounds like he's living his best life along the way too. lucky guy!
