Does anyone have a recommendation for a gadget to easily remove detritus from the bottom of a tank. A turkey baster or julian’s thing can suck up the pile….but the stuff just falls out when I raise them out of the tank. I feel like I must be missing something obvious. Like a baster with back flow valve. Obviously I could and do manage this with a tube and gravity siphon, but that entails a bucket (no sump) and just seems inefficient. Thanks.

You'd probably be surprised how not messy a single 1/2" tube and single filter sock is in a bucket.

This is my go to because it works.

+1 on the above post, but instead of me using a bucket, ill put the filter sock in the sump and start sucking out all the detritus. You can stop when your arm gets tired, then start the process again....LOL

Edit: No Sump... No Problem... Use a small pump (mj1200 or similar) and place sock in tank.

I used a small external filter filled with floss and sponge, i had a sump so the outlet went into sump, but you could have yours directly in the tank as the floss and sponge trap everything, when done simply empty filter and rinse sponges ready for next time, total time was about 10 mins.
The cheapest filter will do, mine cost £10.

They are seriously selling that for over $100?

Screw that company. I was just considering an apex the past few days, but this just confirms their stuff is ignorantly overpriced.

I use vivid creative aquatics maxi jet attachment on a syphon hose. Its like a little vaccume.

How big is the tank? I just have a powerhead that turns on every once in awhile pointed down at the glass and blows it into the water column so it can be filtered out. The small crevices and corners I just syphon out with airline tubing on water changes.
