Tool to remove detritus from bare bottom

@mindme it's the first thing that popped in my head when I saw Chief Lone Wattie from one of the greatest movies ever

I love the movie and he is probably my favorite all time character.

"I didn't surrender, but they take my horse and made him surrender. They have him pulling a wagon in Kansas I bet".

FWIW... i use a piece of rigid airline tubing, connected to a piece of flexible airline tubing.
gets the job done, and you loose less water than with a bigger hose. AND ... the rigid airline helps you keep your hands out of the water.

+3 on the hose to sock in sump.
I use a 10 Micron sock.
10 Micron socks (Marine Depot is the only place I've seen them) are awesome for fine cleaning! That would be perfect for filtering right back into the tank in a system without a sump - or with.

Looks like this thread is goin on a missouri boat ride..................

Why not just combine sediment removal with a water change. No need for anything fancy. Just siphon it out, then put in new water. I do that for my sump all the time. Small water changes of around 6-8 gallons. I do the same thing when I vacuum the sand. Probably 8-10 gallons water change but it is a very efficient way to reduce nutrient build up.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a gadget to easily remove detritus from the bottom of a tank. A turkey baster or julian’s thing can suck up the pile….but the stuff just falls out when I raise them out of the tank. I feel like I must be missing something obvious. Like a baster with back flow valve. Obviously I could and do manage this with a tube and gravity siphon, but that entails a bucket (no sump) and just seems inefficient. Thanks.
The No Spill has worked for years. Just as any regular water change you can send old water down the drain
