Top brace cracks

It is 3/4" (.75") thick glass. I was surprised about the thickness. I'm trying my best not to purchase a new tank. This tank is good quality, reef ready, and got it for free. I will just purchase a new trim from http://www.aquariumframeswholesale.com/

If you empty the tank, silicone a narrow (perhaps a little bigger than the width of the brace in place across the entire thing including the cracked places - it should solve the problem. Don't think you can do it with water inside. If it were me - Just buy a new tank - and use this one for something else (not a display tank) - but I've done the glass on top and it worked fine. Just wouldn't trust it in my living room.
