Hello everyone, so I am upgrading my freshwater tank to a 50 gal, and was thinking of converting the 20 gal hex tank into a saltwater tank. My worry is are the lights sufficient enough to feed the corrals, if I get any, or if I should just wait to we move to a bigger place.
Excited to hear yalls feedback.

Topfin is Petsmart's generic brand. I would say the lights probably aren't sufficient enough for corals. Topfin is the cheapest of the cheap when it comes to aquariums and supplies...their stuff is low quality and doesn't tend to last long term.

For as hex, ideal would be Ai Prime light

Welcome to all the fun!
My very first tank in 1988 was a used hex I found behind the Salvation Army! It still had the undergravel filter and crushed coral in it.
I lugged that thing home on my bike and used a regular light bulb for it!
Man things have changed but I'll never ever forget that tank-it started it all.
35 years later, and I'm still going.

Thats what I figured, hence why I am switching to a bigger tank to have a better light for my plants. Thank you for the added information too!

How are they going to mount it? Take the lid off so the fish can jump out? :upside-down-face:

You modify the lid with a cutout as you would do with a biocube unit and assuming the lid is not being utilized.
IF using the lid, DIY Led would be an option.
