I have a torch that has completely sealed itself up. I am confused why this is happening, or if it is a problem as I've never witnessed this behavior prior. Everything else in my tank looks good. Parameters are all good and very consistent. Nothing has changed. I've attached an up close view of the torch as well as a wide angle of the rest of my happy corals.

It's definitely not dead. I watched it over the course of 24 hours pull the tentacles in and then close up over them.

Hmm, well I've never seen anything quite like it, though I am not a torch expert by any means. Can you get picture under white lights/brighter lights?

I managed to pop it off the rock to get a closer photo.

That's weird man. I guess since everyone else is doing good, all you can do is wait and see what happens.
Maybe it's eating something? I've never seen that before...

it looks like there's a flatworm or something on *TOP* of the torch, since there's no opening for the tentacles to have withdrawn through & I can see the tentacle outlines through the white tissue. I would dip it ASAP and see if the white thing dislodges, or at list pick at it (Over a bowl so it doesn't drop into the tank!) and see if it reacts.

You saw the torch retract and this enveloped over it?

Has it come out since this covering developed ?
