Just got my Triton results back. what effects will elevated levels of Copper, Zinc and Tin have on my Acros?

Two Little Fishies has a product that removes metals. Do your acros look ok?

You have acros alive in this? I had similar levels of all those several times which i blamed for a couple tank wide stn events. My levels were actually a little lower than yours.

I know randy says these levels should not hurt anything.

All the same, i would still use detox and get rid of those heavy metals.

My acros looked terrible RTN, STN no PE etc. I took them all out and put them in quarantine at my LFS until I got my test results back and could diagnose the problem. My Zoas and Montis all look fine though... guess I should do a few large water changes?

That's why you don't want to run with everything Randy says. It's just his opinion.

No coral nerd ...its exactly what randy says
Those levels have toxic effects in some years
But sure its not healty for acros

Agreed, @Acroporaaddict all my LPS montis and zoas were fine for the most part as well.

This reminds me is about time to run detox again in my system.
Yeah, just saying in general not everything he says is 100% as a lot of what he says is just his opinion.

Copper and and zinc alloys are brass, copper and tin alloys are bronze, check your RODI system and all fittings and fixtures downstream. Where did you get your rock and sand? New or used? Elevated copper would not be good for super sensitive inverts like SPS. We use it in bottom paint on boats to prevent encrusting organisms, treatments for ich and other invert pests. Also some stainless such as Monel are copper and nickel alloys. It is always good to find the source instead of just removing the results.

Tank is 8 months old. all new equipment, sand and rocks. I was getting good growth and color up until last month when I switched to new dosing additives

Yeah I think you might want to pull that out and grab yourself a large metal detector lol

Cu si toxic for acros only up then 0.25
At 0.15 its action si only to low down natural defenses of the corals
Zn si involved in regulation of zooxantellae in the corals so effects on colors in tour acros

Through a whole boatload of triton testing I found that those elements can come in through RO water if your filters aren't up to date as well as food sources. Even with all new filters in my RO and a TDS of one I still get some of that stuff coming through. Nothing I can do about it except run triton detox every few months. It continues to build up because it stays in the water as water evaporates and continually replenishes through Auto top off.

37ugl for tin! Oh my, get some metasorb from 2little fishies worked great for me. Your gunna have to figure out where all those metals are comming from
