Trachyphyllia and those awesome moments

I have had my trachy for 8 months about.
When I got it, was roughly over 1 1/2" skeleton.


It has gotten rather large over the months. Also acts rather weird.
Daytime it's flat like a pancake.

Lights off

As the lights kick on.

After looking at the base of the skeleton yesterday. It did this at feeding time. A bit blurry, I didn't clean the glass in that area :*(


Who else has some awesome photos of their trachy and growth feeding phases?

I've never thought that before but after seeing the feeders come out and the orientation of the mouth, Plus knowing how some scolemia will dress down the skirt in different ways...?? Could be?

The roundish shape and center mouth made me think the same. I have 6 trachys and they do not react as hers does. They inflate during the day and deflate at night.

Beautiful specimen! I can't wait to get a trachy garden going in my next build. I'd really like one in my current tank but my Hector's goby is too cute and I really don't want it to become lunch. Also, they're pricy :O

Could try putting in the sump? I had a cynarina that got obliterated by a filefish and it recovered decently in my refugium with all the gunk constantly coming in. Will need proper lighting but just a suggestion.

Do you know what happened to it? Once the aquariums is settle, they are very easy to care for. Not as fickle as lobos.
Nippers, are an issue though.

They were very easy to find years ago .

I have a meat coral and a couple of donuts and they are different. My meat and donut have a single mouth in the center and my trachophylia has multiple mouths

diff not a scoly its an open brain (Trachyphyllia), I had a red and green one a long time ago similar to this in shape and feeding behavior.
