So here are the two models. I can't see the difference. Can someone please explain the 40 dollar price difference. Here is the link that shows the two sump designs. I would paste the pic here but I am using an ipad and cannot.Trigger Systems - Elite vs Sump

The Elite is splitting ur drain line into two. One will feed a fuge and the other goes through the socks. The Fuge section over flows back in to the other section, and continues to the return side of the sump. The sump is a standard, sock>skimmer>return style.

If your lfs deals with dfw then Checkout trigger systems new series called Tideline sumps,, There awesome! "

How is the split line into the fuge better than the 1 2 3.

Really a matter of preference. Do you want to run a fuge? I guess depending on the foot print of your skimmer, the standard sump could also have a fuge. Put the skimmer in the first compartment with the fuge in the middle. Doing it this way however, you can not control the flow through it. This would be a benefit of the Elite series.

They look pretty great. I found a few pics off DFW. What are their price ranges and sizes? For now I'm going to put the crystal elite on my shopping list till I can get more info on the tideline. So far I think I like the setup of the crystal best.

Here ya go,,

I may be thinking the wrong thing when I think of the fuge. I'm thinking it's the same thing as the compartment I threw the chaeto into in my other tank.
What would the benefit of controlling the rate of flow? To allow the chaeto to absorb more or less of the contaminants?

They have bigger versions as well but I don't know exact dimensions of those, I really love this sump and one of my favorite parts about it is it uses a 7 inch filter sock so you don't have to change out as much, Plus the cool lid that covers the filter sock section so no splashing goes on, Its also got predrilled holes for dosing lines to go into and probe holders in the refugium section, It's just a really nice sump but the Crystal elites are nice to and cheaper, couple buddy's of mine just got the crystals.

What is the gal capacity of the 30 inch and what am I looking at as far as price range? I know it will vary from store to store but what would average be about. I need some kind of figure to start with.

I'd say mine holds about 20 gals with my equipment in it and liverock and chaeto in my fuge, I acually got a little discount on mine for $275 but I don't believe there much more then that.

Dng. I'm torn. I like the added holes for the ato, calc drips etc but I like the fuge setup for the crystal elite better. Lol. I know I can add holes but it just seems the drips are cleaner looking and I like that clean sharp look

The filter sock layout is the only thing i don't like about the crystal elite because it just splashes into the socks, On there new tideline sump the water drains into a little compartment next to the sock then overflows into the sock which makes it silent and I mean dead silent lol.

The tideline also comes with 2 trays to add filter media to instead of one, I'm sure You will be happy with any of there sumps though , they also have a couple more new models that are only available through dfw to I would email and ask about those to.

They don't even have the tideline on the trigger sys website.

That is pretty sweet about the noise but how does the initial entry in the tideline not noisy as well
