To be honest I don't know what the real numbers are ..my hanna checker ULR always reads 200ppb and my Red Sea kit reads normal.. Thats why I did the ICP test. I agree the sump is a bit small, but don't want to upgrade until I move. I definitely will be upping everything. I run carbon for about 2 weeks and then give it a two week break. I haven't run GFO until recently.

GFO won’t take nitrate out of the water, only phosphate. Really high nutrients will cause your corals to brown out and/or die a lot more than having low trace elements. A refugium will pull both nitrate and phosphate out of the water with a higher proportion of nitrate than phosphate. Other methods pull one or both things down in varying proportions. I’m 90% sure that your issue is nitrates and phosphates as the blurry test results look to be in the 300’s for nitrate and over 1.3 for phosphate.

I am by no means an expert, but as someone stated stability is the name of the game. It looks like you've made a lot of changes recently and you're going to upgrade tanks soon. That's a lot of changes and it will be hard to narrow down the cause of issues you might have.

You say that your fish are outgrowing your tank. That leads me to believe you have a lot of fish, and that you may be overfeeding. It's just a guess, but maybe your nutrient export isn't keeping up with the bio-load. I would keep that in mind when you're upgrading. Once you dump all those fish into a brand new system you're going to have the same problems until it's established.

If it were me, I would focus my energy on getting the tank upgrade setup right for your planned bio-load. Take your time adding coral. It might be a while before everything settles out.

Maybe I'm missing it; but I don't even see Nitrate on the Triton ICP test.
Phosphates are high - 1.0ppm+.
