Read a bunch that said half cup per gallon of Rodi to get to 1.025. I’m at 1.014 after that recommendation. What’s everyone mixing in their RO to get to desired salinity?

Half a cup per gallon and let it mix for 12-24 hours sometimes if you test too fast after some salt didn’t dissolve

I fill up a 44g brute can almost to the very top and it takes about 16 cups to get to 1.026, if my math is correct that is like 2.5 cups a gallon.

I mixed up 10 gallons of 0 TDS RODI with TMP salt mix yesterday. Needed 6 1/2 cups of salt to get to 35 ppt.

Math would be incorrect lol it should be a cup per every 2.5-2.75 gallons of water with this calculation

Well I buy 160 gallon mix and want to get close to that amount with $115 salt. I had to mix nearly 8-9 cups with 10 gallons of water to get there.

This is why I switched from TMPro, I change 44g a week on my 400g system, so I'm going through a bucket in like 3 weeks.

I'm using Red Sea blue bucket now so its half the cost. Definitely not as clean as TM though.

Most of the salts you will not get the full amount when making salt at 1.025. The BRS video showed that but I do not remember to exact amount 130-160 gallons depending on salinity

I use a return pump to circulate

I typically mix in 5g increments with a target of 34ppt (1.0256).

For 5g I use about 2.75 cups ... so, an extra quarter-of-a-cup.

For 10g I end up using about 5.5 cups ... so, an extra half-cup.

Probably not helpful because metric but I mix 25 litres of RO to 800 ml of Pro Reef. Even though it clears quickly, I leave mine churning overnight and heated to 25C before testing the salinity. Then I usually need to add a little salt to acheive salinity of 35 ppt.

Then I test another parameter or two to cross-check the accuracy of the salinity test. Pro Reef parameters are:

Alkanity approx. 7° KH
Calcium approx. 440 ppm
Magnesium approx. 1350 ppm

I haven't used that one. It looks to be a conductivity meter. Just make sure it is recently calibrated with a 35 ppt standard, and that you are accounting for temperature.

The salts I use seem to take about 3 cups per 5 gallon batch to reach reef salinity.
