trying to buy a dslr camera....... help

have you done any research on your own? make your decisions based on your preferences, my preference is Nikon having owned, Sony, Canon, Minolta and others. Just the way that Nikon can handle and process lowlight and higher iso speeds was the initial selling point for me. Canon makes a wonderful product. With a small effort on your part you can find many comparisons of those two cameras, showing the pro's and con's of each. I've done what you are doing now, I ended up with something "I" was not happy with, so.. while "our" suggestions are good and all, they are based on our opinion, you should form your own, make the purchase and enjoy your investment.

I have done a little research on the net, google and you tube. Talked to Gadgets and he recommends Nikon also. I want to be able to take some sweet pics of my LPS.

I have the nikon d7000, my macro atm is the nikkor micro 85mm, great lens, i'll have my tokina 100mm 2.8 macro tomorrow.

Why is everyone Nikon? Canon...all...the...way...

Go get the Canon 40D, its cheaper than the t31(which is very confusing and not worth the money)and its more for the advanced shooter, read the manual on it and learn it, skip all of those lil "help me learn DSLR photography" cameras and just go big...

Here is some of the shots taken with the 85mm

Go to a good camera shop and handle both of them. They're both exceptional cameras and both will work, equally well, in the hands of someone who knows how to use them. Handle them, see which feels best in your hands...see which has buttons/dials that feel best for you to access...

Those are SO one sided, I wouldnt be surprised if Nikon pays for their people to say that. Being honest.

The canon 40D is a professional camera, its used by alot of pros, school pictures, wedding, etc. its not no runner up...

Im surpsied that neither of those mentioned that the 40D has a LOT higher FPS rate than one of them...thats why its much better...IMO.

I really do not care, like I told him, form his own opinion and go from there, I've owned canon, Sony and others. Canon was my primary choice until I bought my d7000 last Xmas and sold my 60d. The iso sensitivity was so much better with the nikon that with my canon, the color rendition, noise, just so many areas that in my own experiments the nikon out shinned the canon in many ways. Ok, a canon may take one or two extra shots than mine, bit my images will be far superior to those of the equivalent canon.

+1,feels cheap to me.

Im not trying to argue, Im just stating what I experiance.

I agree and just feels off balance and bulky. I feel the Canon and Nikon are of the same quality, Canon just works better for me.
