trying to buy a dslr camera....... help

Billy - I would recommend going to Best Buy or camera shop, and hold each one in your hands. Pay attention to the on/off switch the mode dial, look through the view finder and so on. In my opinion you will know within a couple of minutes which camera works for you.

I bought the d7000 after much debate and research. My selling point was the local camera shop sold only nikon and they will spend as much time helping me as I need.

Here is some of the shots taken with the 85mm

I am also partial to Nikon because I shoot with Nikon. However one of the biggest things to think about (besides how the camera feels in your hands) is what do your friends use? I would get what other I know use so I could ask questions, borrow lenses, etc.

pumarjr, nice shots. However, you really need to clean your sensor. It looks like you have a bunch of dust on the right side of your sensor.

Im still liking my new Canon EOS 7d. The feeling, the price, and the quality of the images and videos are RIGHT!

There are a few review videos of the Nikon7000 vs Canon EOS 7d and the reviewers say they like the feel of the 7d better,I personally do not know, as I have never held a d7000.

There are ALOT of Nikon V. Canon reviews on youtube. Just type in 2 cameras you like and search through a few videos!

Goodluck with finding a new camera!

DigitalRevcom on youtube does a comparison of the 2 cameras...Canon comes out on top I do belive on a few things.

Nikon has things on canon, but canon also has things on Nikon. Its just personally the photographer.

Personally, ISO preformance, dosent matter to me, Im more of a action shooter, so I like high FPS and nice speed...

Its like Chevy vs Ford. Its all personal choice. I have the Canon T3. Its hard to beat the camera for the price, and easy to use for a non pro.

there are hard spots on the inside of my tank, scrub for a while and they are still there. when I took those shots the front of the glass was dirty as well. so I thought they were from the tank, now that you say that I see that they are common in almost every shot. thank you for noticing that.

As an action shooter the high ISO performance should matter to you. It would allow you to get higher shutter speeds with the same lens and lighting or the same shutter speed with a slower lens.

Yup, that is the first thing I noticed when I saw your pictures. Sensor cleaning can be a pain though.

Those are SO one sided, I wouldnt be surprised if Nikon pays for their people to say that. Being honest.

+1

Do your own independent research. I personally prefer Canon, but to each their own :)

Do you have any friends who are own DSLRs? If so, migth not be a bad idea to get the same system as they have so you can borrow and lend lenses :)

Thanks for everyone's help. I bought the Nikon D5100. Seems like everyone likes the camera they have, be it Nikon or Canon. In the end one persons opinion stood up above everyone's, Gadgets recommended Nikon, so Nikon it is.

Thanks to everyone,
Billy
