Trying to eliminate astapia!!!

I had a minor aptasia outbreak in my observation tank. Aphasia-x worked very well. It took about a week to hit them all. I've been aphasia free for a couple weeks now. I still keep on the lookout for them...they have a way of coming back it you didn't get them all.

Hello everyone, I have been doing some research and have read several ways to get rid of astapia, I have tried astapia-x, but without good results. What is the best method to eliminate this problem once and for all?
Aptasia eating file fish. Get 1, and he'll have that tank completely clean in a week.

Purchased Berghia Nudibranchs from Reef Town and they cleaned them right up. Had at least 100 of the pests in my nano and the nudibranchs wiped them out in less than a month.

Edit: Peppermint's have been hit or miss for me in the past, especially if you feed your tank every day.

This.

Berghia's are the best way to get rid of them. It may take some time depending on size of your tank and they are expensive if you have to get alot but it works. As others have mentioned though they will die once all the aphasia is gone.

Peppermint shrimp, cbb, file fish are all a roll of the dice and if they don't touch aptasia you are stuck with them (that can be ok with you or not). I tried all 3 and none worked permanently.

Berghias finally worked but it took many months in my 150 dt.

Aptadsia x, Joe's juice, f-aptasia all worked temporarily but they always came back for me.

Imo best solution are those nudis and reeftown is a great place to get them.

I used berghia to clear them out of a 1700 gallon mixed reef. Didn’t even put a lot of them in because of cost. Just let the first batch reproduce and wipe them out. Took a year to find them as a solution after trying injecting them and peppermint shrimp. Still have the occasional one pop back up but they’ll hunt it down and eat it.

The recommendation is to acclimate them in the container and then place the whole container in the aquarium with the opening facing the rock with lights off. That way, they can come out and get into the rock without being eaten. I'd probably try to keep fish known to hunt in the rock away somehow. Maybe keep them segregated using those breeder screens or maybe place them in another tank.

Can I put the nudibranches in with a splendid dottyback?

I dont know the answer to that but I would email Capt. Jeff over at reeftown and ask him.

Just from my experience I have a large melanarus wrasse and a mystery wrasse and they did not eat them that I am aware of. Also berghias are supposed to taste terrible so even if your dottyback would pick off one it may unlikely go for others.

If you have only a few (less than 10) Apastia is it worth buying Nudi’s or continue to try and combat them with other means

They typically won't reproduce quickly unless they are stressed. If they are, they can spread everywhere very fast. Ultimately, it's going to be a call only you can make. Personally, I have let them be in the past and every time I've regretted it.
