Tunze Osmolator 3155 overfilling my sump!!

Working perfect for 3 months, now I wake up to an overflowing skimmer and empty R.O bucket!!.

I can never catch the problem, I fix everything and monitor all day, all seems well. I wake up, bucket is empty.
Pump outlet hose is higher than r.o level ( even if it wasn't, it would siphon to the r.o bucket level, not completely empty bucket) wake up to all the lights flashing on the unit.

Only thing I can figure is if my overflow is stopping or slowing down at least and the pump is sucking the return chamber dry,then the overflow returns to normal but now the sump is over filled.
I'm not seeing evidence of that either.

Thoughts?
 
Do you have a valve on your return? You could close that some to slow the sump down. No idea if that's it. Just a thought.

Done that too. If I unplug the ato and do manual 3/4 gallon per day top offs, I never have a super low return chamber issue, jus the 3/4 gallon evap.
 
Wow almost impossible for the tunze 3155 failed in the on position
Maybe a few pictures of the tank,sump & r/o bucket set-up would be nice
I only have experience failed in the off mode due to dirty optical sensor
 
The thing is with that is
If the primary sensor is skewed, the float should of caught it before emptying my RO.
Just to paint a picture, when my sensor shuts the pump down due to proper level, if I were to add 3 cups of additional water, the float kicks in. Not 3 gallons.
 
So trigger the sensor. Lower water in the sump and let the pump turn on. Once the desired level is reached see if the pump shuts off. If not the sensor is the issue. If that is the case let it rise and trigger the float. See what happens.

I've been watching it for 4 hours, everything perfect. If I go to bed and wake up, 7 hours, odds are, all hell will have broke loose and buckets empty.
I'm thinking of getting a pillow and sleeping next to the open stand door lol.

Done that and it works every time. If intermittent, I keep missing it.
 
Do you have your ATO connected to a controller (APEX, Reefkeeper, etc)?

No way two sensors are bad, unless the shared wiring to the sensors is compromised. Have to look at in the a.m to see if that harness is two sepatate or one.
 
Did the head unit get wet or salt creep? If it were mine, I'd probably take it off line and open the head unit up and see if there's salt creep or a loose wire. It's no good to you right now.
 
One more question, any chance you're installing the sensors upside down. Real easy to do.
 
Happened to me once and I found that the Calcium precipitated and blocked the sensor and weighted down the float sensor, as soon as cleaned both it worked fine.
 
I had this happen also. If the water level in your ato container is higher than the water level in the sump it will create a siphon and overfill. I had to move the topoff line up to my tank so it's always above the ato.
