I just bought a used Tunze to replace my JBJ so will let you know how that goes.
JBJ would dump water in my sump in a very erratic way, sometimes a lot sometimes very little, don't know why but I got tired of messing with it.
You get what you pay for is indeed true when it comes to ATO's.
Check out the Avast ATO as well, good reviews and can be operated with a aqualifter pump.

Compare the Tunze to the Spectrapure UPLC-II and you may have a new choice. I have been happy with mine for over 5 years now with no problems at all. Bulletproof and tons of safeties and adjustability.

My Tunze has NEVER failed me in five years.(Bad Experience prior) It has Two stopping mechanisms that make it as about fail safe as possible. Installation is a breeze. Two thumbs up from me to the Tunze!!
The Spectrapure does not require a low level switch as it is a peristaltic pump and can run dry with no issues. It can be set in either fill or drain mode and anywhere between 1/10" and 4" with the touch of a button. You can also adjust the fill rate in 10% increments, 0-100% as another level of safety. On top of that it can suck up from 30+ feet below like a basement ATO storage location or pump up to 60 psi like in a multistory building with the ATO on the ground floor.

I went ahead and paid the extra for a tunze, and from what I read I am glad I did. But personally I can't say it's better since I never had any other ato but the tunze.
pros = I installed it, and forgot about it.
cons = It doesn't make a decent cappuccino

i am very happy with it.. it has been running for 3 months now no issues.. and very easy to set up.
I have a a mj600 that transfers water to my sump. I have a mj400 in the ato tank to keep water movement i have a 18 gallon tote as my ato tank and put about 15 gallons in it. so it last for a few weeks before needing water again thats why the circulation pump is in there. so thats all i got for input..

Tunze comes with everything you need to set up and go from the start. JBJ - you need to buy a separate pump. JBJ has float switches that could get stuck in the "on" position by a rogue snail or simple failure. Tunze uses an electronic eye AND a back up float switch. Tunze also has a built in controller that will sense when the pump is about to run dry, and reports an empty storage tank.

1st - I own both the JBJ for my frag tank and a Tunze Osmolator 3155 for my DT. The better choice by far is the 3155. I have had the JBJ fail me once (although it was partially my fault as I was using too strong of a pump on it I guess so the failsafe float didn't kick in soon enough). I have alleviated this problem now in case it fails again b/c my sump can handle the entire contents of my ATO now without overflowing. I have had the 3155 on my main DT now for 2 years and I haven't even cleaned the sensor at all lol. I also implemented an automatic water change with the Tunze Osmolator and utilizing the brains of my Apex. This was worth the purchase price in and of itself!
2nd - If you are hooking the Osmolator up in the main DT without a sump, the same concept still applies. Find the maximum water level your tank can handle minus a couple of inches and place the float at that location and then place the main sensor a couple of inches below that.

I received my osmolator in the mail yesterday and I mistakenly thought it would work on my hob refugium. Didn't really think that one through. So now I am trying to come up with ideas for putting the sensor in my display. But I don't like putting clutter in the display. Also I need to have the water level as high as possible because of the way the hob fuge overflows back into the tank.
