but I wonder if @rvitko has any idea on suggested battery size/types? Or perhaps @Brew12?

Thanks for posting that pic. I have seen that one before. Most of the cords are not hooked up though. Looking for somthing more complete.Someone else posted a picture of their setup.

Normally for battery backup systems I recommend trolling motor batteries. In this case, that would be overkill and would power your pumps for weeks. A smaller battery can be used. If you want to try and calculate run time you will need to get the power draw for the pump in emergency mode. For DC, 1 watt = 1 volt x 1 amp. If it is a 12V pump and uses 12 watts it will pull 1 amp of current. This means a 200 amp hour battery will last for 200 hours in theory.
Yup, deep cycle batteries are exactly what you are looking for. As opposed to cranking batteries that are designed for high current for short periods of time.I ran into these on the same search.....are these in the right class of batteries? Around 30 amp-hours seems like a pretty good deal for what I have in mind.

That is mostly complete. Red wire from the positive of the battery to the red wire on the unit. Black wire from the negative of the battery to the black wire on the unit. The original power supply plugs into the unit and the unit plugs into the controller. Unfortunately, I don't have these things so I can't take a picture for you. Thanks for posting that pic. SLA is Sealed Lead Acid. You can get deep cycle and starter batteries like this. For indoor use I would go with SLA or AGM batteries. You don't want vented batteries indoors. Can deep cycle batteries be kept indoors? Or will they give off gases.
I was told to stick with SLA
I believe that all AGM batteries are sealed. I would expect any that are not sealed would have a special designation if they do exist but they would be very uncommon.Sorry my mistake. That's what I meant vented or non vented. Both SLA and AGM are non vented? Or does it have to specify that they are non vented.
Thanks
Yes, these are all sealed. Key things to look for are being designated as "leak proof", "SLA" (sealed led acid) or "valve regulated".The ones I listed are sealed (I think) right?
Yup, it should automatically kick over. What I don't know is if it goes into a low power mode when on battery power. Just not too familiar with this specific product. Will the battery kick on automatically once power is lost from the TUNZE pump via Safety connector?

I noticed that you could hook up a 24V battery to it. Would it still go to a lower power mode in this case?Yes ! I goes to 12v and you can see the pump has less flow than when it's running at 24v
I love it when I can be of no help and yet someone has a great result!I just figured something out on my Ecotech Battery backups that means I wont need the tunze safety connector now.
Unreal! I almost just spent a ton of money for no reason!
